Game Notes

Tonight's game against the Yankees is a makeup of the Sunday, April 10 matchup that was postponed because of inclement weather.

Not sure why Kinsler isn't playing, Lettuce's brother gets the start at catcher for the yankees tonight.

Tigers left-hander Matt Boyd is making his second start of the season. In his previous start, a no-decision on May 28 at Oakland, Boyd allowed six hits and three runs (all earned), including a pair of home runs. He struck out seven and walked none in that outing. In 15 MLB games (13 starts), Boyd is 1-6 with a 6.85 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP. This is his first look at the Yankees.

Yankees right-hander Michael Pineda has been struggling mightily. In his last four starts, the 6-foot-7, 260-pounder has an 8.85 ERA. During that time, he has allowed 30 hits and 20 earned runs in 20 1/3 innings. Pineda has surrendered six runs or more in six of his 10 starts. He hasn't faced the Tigers since 2011.

Miguel Cabrera has batted .484 with seven home runs in his last 16 games at Comerica Park.

The Yankees have lost six of their last eight games, hitting only .176 with 19 runs scored during that stretch

"He's not in the lineup because we had a late arrival and he hasn't had a day off in awhile." Ausmus said of Kinsler.

Ummmmm, he had 3 fucking days off a week ago numb nuts.

Kinsler sitting: Ian Kinsler wasn't in the lineup against the Yankees despite wielding a hot bat in May, when he batted .303 with seven home runs, 15 RBIs and 14 extra-base hits in 109 at-bats.

Mike Aviles replaced Kinsler at second base. "He's not in the lineup because we had a late arrival and he hasn't had a day off in a while," Ausmus said.

Actually, it was Kinsler's third day off in the last nine. He missed games May 24-25 against the Phillies with an illness.

Dan Dickerson will miss Friday and Monday games (family graduation, etc.). John Keating fills in Friday, and Ken Kal (he scores!) Monday.

5 pitches to J.D. None were in the strike zone. Result = K swinging

Loving these young arms!

Norris had another good start last night for Toledo too. 4 straight good starts for him.

Watching the YES broadcast. Cashman gave Pineda an ultimatum...pitch well or else (sent down or moved to the pen). Looks like the Tigers are what the doctor ordered.

Lol! Meanwhile, Boyd is cruising.

6726 Stikeouts in the month of May. The most in MLB history for a month.

That and wouldn't it have been a "late arrival" for everyone? Brad makes no sense

Iggy points to the pitcher as if to say good pitch after he k's..I've only ever seen Miggy do that before..hey iggy quit trying to be Miggy and be yourself!
