Yankees @ Tigers Game #12 April 21, 2022

Miguel Cabrera angry Aaron Boone didn?t let him get to 3,000 hit landmark:

?It?s one hit before 3,000 guy,? Miggy said of the Yankees skipper. ?Is your reliever getting me out more important than history? That?s not a good manager.?

It?s still weak. We all understand the baseball move aspect but nobody walks Miggy anymore. 2nd IBB in 3 years. If this was still prime Miggy that?s one thing but it is not.

Looks like rain for tonight game 62% chance and I don't believe they start games anymore at even the slightest drizzle so might not be seeing any crack at 3,000 tonight :-(

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

On Friday afternoon, the NY Yankees denied Miguel Cabrera?s chance to earn his 3000th hit by intentionally walking him.

There are those who say that it is the manager?s job to try to win the game and thus Aaron Boone made the right move.

But there are others who claim that Friday?s game was much more about seeing history being made than it was about it being just a game.

They claim the significance of the event should have been considered, as well as the many people who took the day off in order to attend. Most of those fans would have been unable to return the next day. And afterall, this game was being played in Detroit where over 95% of all the attendees were Tiger fans.

Boone?s very unpopular move triggered massive, extended booing by thousands of fans. Several sports writers covering the event said they had not witnessed such displeasure in any games they had attended.
Baseball experts were not all on the side of the Yankees? manager for his move. A number of them said that this was a unique situation that warranted alternative moves.

What do you think? Was it appropriate for Aaron Boone to prevent Miggy from hitting in his last at-bat of the day?

Today?s blog addresses this dilemma and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!

For this one blog only, you?ve got 6 sentences max to share your thoughts. Of course, you can respond to as many other readers as you want.

TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.

Ready?
Should Manager Aaron Boone have allowed Miguel Cabrera a chance to hit in his last at-bat?

Should Manager Aaron Boone have allowed Miguel Cabrera a chance to hit in his last at-bat?

1. No, he appropriately placed the priority on in-game strategy.

2. Yes, he should have considered the significance of the event.
