Yoenis Cespedes - Cuban CF

I guess the real question is can he pass the roid test?. B/C he sounds too good to be that good.

No overnight star? At 26, though who we kidding probably much older, he would need to hit right away IMO to be worth it.

The 30 mill would be spread out over 5 or 6 years, at leas that was my understanding.

If he is as good as they say he will get over $12 million per year. My guess is he is a 32+ year old that has been doing roids and HGH for the past few years. Pretty big risk IMO

The Cuban league is roughly on par with low A ball.

Brandon Inge would hit 20 HRs in 90 games there.

His bat speed is off the charts......He IMO is on HGH....WE ALREADY HAD OUR STEROID ERA IN THE STATES.

Lets pass on the high risk investment

I had to look at the video again. If this guy is not on HGH his bat speed is right there with Paul Molitor, Barry Bonds and Tony Gwynn.

If this guy is for real he could be a great player.

We gave Dontrelle $40 million contract for 4 years. If we could get this guy for $30 million for at least 5 years, do it.

Huh?

Not that his 29 million contract (as well as Robber-tsons), weren't proven later to be highway robbery, but it was an extension of two more seasons in addition to the one year remaining on his last contract with the Marlins. I can somewhat see an "excuse" for DD's extending Nate's contract, given that he had demonstrated his value to the Tigers in the past, but NOT Dontrelle, that was amazingly stupid, as his stats were in a noticeable decline for the past couple of seasons, and Willis was a SP in the NL, not the AL. DD should have waited until mid-season at least, to see if Willis was gonna pan out or not.

IF he isn't taking roids or HGH and IF he is actually 26 years old i don't know if offering him a contract would be a bad decision. Have a feeling his is more like 29 and is taking HGH but that guy is a physical beast and would be a lot like Wily Mo Pena but better OBP.

Kendry Morales is a pretty nice player. Cubans can play ball. I think that he is worth rolling the dice on. The Tigers have scouts and doctors. If he isn't what they say he is, then they aren't going to go after him. If he is what they say then we can have a star in CF. Im all for taking the chance. Convincing a Cuban to come to Detroit might be another issue.

He would mix in fine with the culture in Detroit. If they got Adrolis to go to Cincinnati, possibly the most uptight Cuban in a decade, we can get Cespedes to come and mix in with out Hispanic players.

Every once in awhile something comes up I am undecided on. I am split 50/50. I hate to be on the fence on anything, but I am on the fence with this guy.

I heard on the news the Tigers are really interested in this guy.

Looks like he has a loopy, long swing. Sure he might have power but to hit MLB pitching with that long swing he could be just as easily a bust.

Just a thought and I'm probably wrong but i wonder if there were some discussions for the trade to go through Willis needed a new contract? Either way that contract never bothered me because we were getting Miggy, a young stud.

Just watched his whole video. Swings a lot like Vlad. Kid is a physical beast and would instantly give us speed on the base paths. Would most likely be like Aramis Ramirez and spend a month or 2 in the minors. I mean what the hell give the guy 10 mil a year. We gave Maggs 10 mil last year and look what he did for us

Believe it or not, there is a large Cuban community in the Det area
