You didn't play to win today Schwartz

I still can't get over that 3rd and 11 field goal.. Why not run it and try and get a few yards? Or center the ball at least? Why would you leave a down on the field? It just doesn't make sense to me. I'm starting to think he's not the right man for the job.

Well, first of all, if you listen to the interviews after the game, Schwartz said Hanson wanted it on that hashmark, not the center of the field. Second, we had been losing yards running the ball, so why possibly make it a longer field goal? I was confident Hanson would make it and I'm sure Schwartz was too, which is why it's not worth the risk of running it again for a possible loss.

Overall, it was a bad snap and Hanson's kick missed by less than half a foot! I'm disappointed we weren't able to score in overtime because of turnovers and poor playcalling, but that's what happened. Despite the 2 big missed calls by the refs (punt return "non-fumble" and Forsett's "TD"), we were in position to knock off the Texans who have the best record in the league.

We had just lost yards the play before by running so we should do that again?

shouldnt have run the ball on the first 2 downs either. Throw it 2 times....kick the FG. i would have won us the game if i was the coach :D What did running the ball twice accomplish....absolutely nothing.

Getting it to the hash mark they wanted. That's what running accomplished.

It accomplished getting it to where the kicker wanted. Bad snap

I thought we went for it on 3rd down incase it was a bad snap. If that was Schwartzs master plan than why didnt we just eat it and kick the 53 yard game winning FG with a good snap?

Harris fixed it too well. But the timing was off. Snap wasn't bad enough. Lions can't even get fixing a snap when you don't want it fixed this season. It's amazing how unconvential they have lost about 5 games.

good news is were running out of new ways to lose, soon they will just have to settle for wins.

Harris is good at doing things bad....good. I liked how Phil Simms was clamoring cause he hadnt punted a touchback all year. I guarantee every single lions fan yelled back at the TV screaming "cause he cant kick the ball over 37 yards!" lol

Thats funny, cause when he said it I thought, somewhere Hughes is yelling at the TV "its cause he can't kick it that far". He doesn't have touchbacks cause when we get close enough for him to make it in the endzone thats usually in Hansons range.

I've seen it said in another thread but we had just had a couple drives get knocked out of field goal range by JJ Watt third down sacks. If that happened again would you praise Schwartz for his aggressiveness?

Absolutely would have praised.. so the argument is because JJ watt had been successful on previous plays let's assume we can't do anything and settle for a long FG attempt. Not what I'd call a winning mindset, maybe this is why the franchise continues to blow goats year after year eh. No guts no glory. Play not to lose and you'll lose

I just dont see how settling for a 47 yd GW FG after how fucked up that game had gone should have ever been an option. He took the ball out of staffords hands and put 100 faith in Hanson. Which...i admit....isnt the worst option in the world....some of the time that option would work. But it didnt work. I would think youd atleast put some effort into getting the ball into better FG range on 1st and 2nd downs.

The JJ watt argument is that staff was sacked on THIRD down in previous drives. You cant expect that hes going to sack you on 1st 2nd and 3rd downs.....so youre practically saying....that after like 600 yards of offense you had no faith that your offense would gain yardage on 1st and 2nd downs passing the ball and on 3rd down if neccesary. I have more faith in staff completing a 5 yard pass in 3 downs than i am in Hanson converting a 47 yd GW FG....our coach doesnt.
