BTW I would have had 0 issue if they ran another play and I don't think he made a mistake having him kick it on 3rd down. IMO, he had him kick on 3rd down to end the game. It wasn't that he didn't have faith in the offense or in case they botched the snap. Guys were getting tired and mistakes were being made. He was confident his kicker would make it and Hanson's earned that confidence.
But here is where I disagree with you guys....you're saying run another play to gain a couple of yards. Why? There is no difference to Hanson if he's kicking a 47 yarder or a 42 or 43 yarder. It would be different if it was a 53 yarder...then yes, you should try and gain a few more yards. But risking all of the bad things that can (sack, penalty, turnover, loss of yards) to gain a couple of yards isn't worth the risk/reward. Hanson missed that kick because of the snap and not the distance or the spot on the field. The snap just threw the timing of the play off.
