Colin Cowherd : Stafford vs Rodgers

Agreed, and aside from maybe the 2014 Lions team, I'd say Rodgers has been dealt a better overall roster. Rodgers is clearly the better Qb, but given the Lions endless futility, can there really be a fair comparison? Rodgers is carrying that team this year, and just flat out destroying teams by himself of late. He'd win as a Cleveland Brown his year, he'd be on his way to Atlanta playing as a Lion this year. Hes that good, and the last 8-9 games has basically put him on a level all by himself.

Dont let him fool you.....he argued mayhew was awesome for half a decade and that we should have been a 12 win team for the talent level we have the last 4 years. Now all of a sudden GBs talent is head over heals better than us????!!!!???? lol. what a fucking joke. Gb had just as many injuries as us on their defense. Their oline has been completely reconstructed from just 2-3 years ago. They find guys like Bakthari and turn them into all pro level players. Our coaches coach up no one....ever. The only thing thats improved the last 10 years is Staffords INT rate because he now throws the ball 3 yards or less 80% of the game....whippidy do!

LKP is either stupid or a troll. He may be the only person on the planet that thinks Stafford is better than AR. My guess, even he doesn't believe it...he's just a pathetic little troll.

Mayhew was good. Quinn is great.

Lions have a much better defense than Green Bay so when I talk about talent that is a big one. ST as well.
They have equal weapons. Adams, Cobb, Cook stepped up in playoffs. Tate, Ebron and Boldin did not. They had a bad game but that doesn't mean they are not talented.
Oline, Lions had injuries and a revamp of youth. The Packers did not revamp their Oline. Bakhtiari, Lang, Bulaga and Linsley have been there for years. They dropped Sitton due to cap problems not being able to pay everyone. The Lions Oline can be just as good but didn't reach their potential in 2016. Now we see what happens in free agency and Swanson's stupid injury.
Lions have better RBs but Abdullah and Riddick got hurt. Montgomery came out of nowhere.

Lions are more talented. But Rodgers is getting a ton of help and had a healthy situation at Oline and got Montgomery out of nowhere. The Lions had a better plan with Zenner and Washington but Montgomery out played them.

Detroit is more talented than Green Bay but Rodgers gets much more offensive help.

Detroit more talent at QB, RB, Defense, ST
Even talent at WR, TE and Oline

Just notice the more you push, the harder he pushes back into troll territory.

There's not a single human being that understands football who would say Matt Stafford is a better QB than Aaron Rodgers. And if you find one, their head is so buried in the sand it's really quite sad.

Ok so 100 yard rushers. As has been pointed out Stafford has gone 52 games straight without a 100 yard rusher. His stats during that time:

1224/1922 (63.7%), 13,671 yards, 80 TDs, 40 INTs, 89.99 rating. Also rushed himself 109 times for 410 yards.

Early in his career 2010-2013 Rodgers went 42 straight games without a 100 yard rusher. His stats during that time:

936/1398 (67.0%), 11,960 yards, 106 TDs, 20 INTS, 112.84 rating. Also rushed himself 159 times for 773 yards

Oh and Rodgers won a superbowl and MVP in that time. So can we please stop comparing them, it's not even close. You can't even skew this to make anything look comparable.

It's not just rushing alone. It's weapon health and Oline health leading to better protection. Also turnovers forced by the defense is key for shorter fields. Stafford is more talented physically and mentally. The Lions are more talented but due to injuries Rodgers gets more support. Packers do have good run game, weapons and Oline. It's not all Rodgers. Lions are better but Packers are good in those areas. And have continuity with McCarthy

Rodgers had 3 100 yard rushers in 2013 and 2 in 2011. Also he had insane weapons back then and incredible protection. It's more than just running game. Stafford gets almost nothing from the running game. Rodgers got a lot since 2013 (Lacy drafted and Montgomery 2016). Stafford didn't have the protection (some years injury, some years bad play, some coaching by Lombardi). Stafford has had weapon issues in 2012 and 2013 too.

There is one year Rodgers had equal protection, better run game and same weapons. 2015. Stafford had the better QB rating.

2011 Stafford had weapons and protection (some run game early) and had 40 TDS.

Rodgers has never had worse rushing support than Stafford.

Who cares how good they are or how much talent they have. They won a lousy 9 games, and ended the season with an L4. Maybe we can't run the ball because the defenses are playing up so close for the fact, and I quote "..throws the ball 3 yards or less 80% of the game....whippidy do!"

Or because the top 2 running backs got hurt. Center and RT injuries late in the season. LG struggles. TE blocking struggles. Washington not reading the hole as a rookie. Zenner being slow.

Our top RB's would be 3rd down players at best on most teams.. All year "If we only had Ameer." 161 rushing attempts and suddenly he's Walter Payton. I keep on hearing the OL is bad but somehow Ameer will solve it. Lol.

Ameer makes guys miss. Riddick too. They would have helped immensely. Abdullah is a good RB. Good rookie year and was playing great the first two games with that same line. If you don't think losing your top two RBs will hurt your run game, well I can't help your stupidity.

Lions will probably add a better power back to team with Abdullah but the run blocking must improve too at LG and TE. Decker and Swanson are good and set. RG and RT is a matter of price now. Can upgrade there too if they want. Warford was good. Reiff was average this year then hurt late.

Ameer is nothing but a mystery. To call him good is being short sighted. Out of this league in 2 years..

"If we have our RB's healthy, a better OL, another DE - 3 LB's and a whole new secondary we could be good." Is that what you mean when you babble on about our injuries and telling us about each player?

Plain and simple, the team blows.

Decker was good, Warford above average, Swanson average, Reiff a little below average in run grades. Laken and Glasgow were both horrible in run blocking grades. Ebron was bad, Harbor/Wick bad, Mulligan above average but not used much.

No kidding, Jocko. Like I said the team blows. You just agreed with that..

Our secondary is good. Slay, Lawson, Quin, Wilson and Killebrew did well

RBs healthy. Yes I would like our top two RBs healthy.

Oline will improve. Decker and Glasgow year 2, Swanson back from injury. Decisions on the free agents to be in Warford and Reiff. Warford did well. Reiff average. We'll see on the price.

3 new LBs no. Maybe one young athletic LB. Levy healthier and Whitehead has proven he can play better. Bynes has proven he can play better too (and did in the middle of the season).

Closed end and pass rushing DT are the big needs.

End, DT, one LB. Lions can add that this offseason and figure out RG/RT. Lions have 8 picks and plenty of cap space to add their targets who they want in free agency.

If they add 2 of 3 on defense they will be much better.
