2012 Cy Young race

It's a concept that I really don't get. You pitch to the #2 guy the way in which you best know to get him out.

Exactly.

Except so many are convinced that the #2 see's better pitches because the Pitcher fears walking him with Cabrera looming...

And yet Cabrera has a lower walk rate and IBB rate his year with Prince behind him than he did with Victor.

The fact is IBB's have less to do with who's behind him, as they do in situations where they just don't want to pitch tho Cabrera.

Protection is a factor, it's just really overrated. And Cabrera as protection, [like for the #2 hitter] is just a myth.

Big Foot is a myth too.

Brand new race now with Weaver getting bombed last night. Price, JV, King Felix, Sale and Weaver all have a case. Whoever has the best last month and a half should win it.

Right now I'd go
1. Price
2. JV
3. Felix or Weaver

But, it's really too close to call. Should each have about 8 or 9 starts left, they might squeeze 10 out of JV. Weaver has proven every year that he has a couple meltdowns down the stretch.

Well Weaver dropped to 5th out of the 5 candidates listed in ERA and is now second in wins, so we can stop discussing this nonsense of Jared Weaver winning the Cy Young. Felix Hernandez and David Price are JV's biggest competition.
