2015 Cap

Let's hope it doesn't come down to a franchise tag number because frankly that is insane

Franchise tag gives the team more time to get a deal (July) or trade with non exclusive tag. Losing him for nothing is insane.

I still remember LKP saying they need to get rid of Suh after the Green Bay game. I get that it was probably a short term expression of anger and/or disappointment, my point is just that at one point LKP was ok with letting Suh go due to potential future liability with suspensions.

He wasn't suspended. Not a risk anymore. Two year rule still in effect.

Great, we can fit Suh in. I suppose it doesn't matter we can't sign anyone else but as long as we can pay a DT 27m. If Mayhew does this, officially worse than Millen.

That may be stretching it juuuuuuuuuuuuuuust a bit, don't you think?

No. 27m for anyone is stupid let alone a DT. For that you can get 3 very good DT. Only the Lions would make history, this way. If he does it, worse than Millen.

18 million under with 53 under contract. So need about 10 million cleared to franchise Suh.

Bush, Tulloch, Jones cut is about 8 million.

It's happening if a deal isn't reached by March 2.

Bush - See ya.

Jones - See Bush

Tulloch - Would like to see him back if he would take a pay cut. Otherwise, his production was good, but Whitehead showed some promise so I'd be fine letting Tulloch go. LB depth is crazy good.

Suh - Torn on this. Long term deal is best case scenario. But letting him walk is enticing ONLY if there is a plan in place for TRYING to replace his production.....(drafting Brown from Texas and resigning Fariley). Tagging him is better than losing him, though.

To each his own, I guess.

But I do agree that tagging him at that price tag would be a questionable decision, at best.

I guess I look at it this way. Tagging him is better than losing him.

Personally, If I knew his $$$ would be spent to improve the OL, we drafted a DT in round 1 and a CB in round 2.........letting Suh walk would be the wise long-term move.

We can fit others in. Vet mind deduction rule. Mathis (600k cap last 2 years), Mosley, Hilliard, Mulhbach, Abdul Quddus, Palmer, Tapp, George Johnson. All very cheap. None of those guys count extra considering top 51 rule.

Draft well again bring Suh back. Top 5 defense and an offense that can grow in year 2.

I can see it now, Tag Suh, win 8 games..lose Suh. Now that's just fun..

And admit it half you want him back now because he cried. Before that it was screw you, don't let the door hit ya.., you're a liability. Ugh.

Those tears could mean either he was upset that his Lions days ended that way, or that he actually wants to win as a Lion. We will see based on his next non-Tag contract what those tears were really about.

LKP believes we can tag him and then work out a deal. Why would a man making 27m want to work out a deal..he's basically be getting paid for 2 years with that money.

Tag Suh win 12 plus playoffs.

The crying just made him more marketable. Suh is no dummy..big deal, endorsements..

Long term deal more set. More guranteed now with signing bonus and guaranteed salary or roster bonus. You don't turn down 100 mil dollar contracts. Also could work out a trade with franchise. Better than letting him walk.

Suh likes the coaches, on a top defense and won this year (11 wins). He may want to be back.

Last year was new coaches, two down years. Smart to wait. Now it's time to sign.

How often does a player of his caliber hit free agency and sign a long term deal with current team? Mayhew couldn't get anything done in the last year what makes you think he can now..
