2015 Cap

It's very likely that the defense will take a step back next year. The D-line was great last year and will be worse next year. The run D will be worse and in turn will make the pass defense worse. My guess is they will still be a good defense but not top 10.

The Dline will be good this year. Our back 7 is great. Our coaching is great. Dline could very well be the same. Ngata and Walker, don't sleep on them like you all did with Slay, Mathis, Quin, Dig, Levy and Whitehead.

Plus the offense will improve in year 2 with better protection and run blocking. Top 5 or 10 offense and top 5 or 10 defense. Playoff and Super Bowl caliber yet again.

Last year they had a great D line, good LBs and average secondary. It all starts up front. The D line will not be as good which will have an impact on the back 7. You say the O-line will improve but we don't even know what it is going to look like. They have a LOT of work to do to be in the top 10 in offense and defense.

I agree with this, and would echo it in any argument about this team.

However, to play devil's advocate, we also lost a lot of players in that secondary last season including Bentley and Lawson, and played much of the season with guys brought up off the practice squad.

Our starters remained mostly healthy (Quinn, Igbo, Mathis, Slay) but missed a few games here and there. But that Nickel was a question all season, and the Dime was non-existant.

Getting some of these guys back will help improve the secondary as well. IMO, not enough to make up for the losses up front, and losing Suh will impact the secondary more than anyone thinks.

But you have to admit, as well as Whitehead played for us last year, you'd rather have a healthy Tulloch back there, and an emerging Van Noy next to him.

I don't think we're going to see the same caliber of pass rush out of Ngata/Whoever that we saw out of Suh/Fairley(Mosley), but I'm hopeful the rest of the defense comes up even better with healthy starters.

The Dline will be good. No doubt about it. The back 7 is very good. You underrate them. They were more the reason for the top defense than Suh. Suh has had great years in 2011-2013 and the defense wasn't top 5. Levy, Quin, Slay/Mathis healthy was huge. Plus year 2, Tulloch back and the nickels back.

Offensive line will be healthy and Swanson over Raiola. Based on that they should improve. We'll get a left guard soon enough.

Top 10 offense and defense is the highest probability.

The success of an offense and defense has to start with the line play. You are assuming that the D line will only have a slight drop off when you are losing 100% of the interior d linemen.

The line will be good. Ngata and walker. Not worried at all. Fairley missed half the year anyway. Give me walker over Mosley in second half. Ngata better in run defense, will get doubled like suh and will be interesting to see how well ngata will do one gapping.

Top 10 defense or better. No doubt. No doubt in the dline. None

I not a fancy big city lawyer or nothing, but I think, I say I think, you're right KDP.

LKP: no way man....2 ppl injured their pinky fingers so that totally excuses Staffords play.

Everyone else: Oh, so are depth sucks....good job mayhew

LKP: Dude, Waddle was good that one game....its really the run game that sucks.

Everyone else: Stafford sucked ass the year we had a good run game.

LKP: But the concentrated run game was not good

Everyone else: wtf is that?

LKP: True runs were not good.

Everyone else: So we truly aren't good at running the ball, have no depth and therefor Stafford doesn't play good?

LKP: Yes...we are a top 10 offense.

Everyone else: huh? So we cant run good, have no depth on the oline so Stafford sucks and that equates to a top 10 offense?

LKP: True Super bowl champs.

You seriously need to stop sitting in mommy and daddy's garage with the engine running, especially before you post.

The starters are good. Some of the depth is good. We were down to 3rd and 4th string at RT. It wasn't just one guy hurt. Bush, Waddle/Hilliard and Warford are huge injuries for the run game. Nobody has that kind of depth. And like I said, Sims/Raiola suck at run blocking. They are gone.

Stafford played well given the injury circumstances. He had no run game or protection and it was due to many injuries.

I was right last year. 11-5 and Seattle like defense. I'm huffing the truth.

Fans are going to see how good Suh was when he is not there. It will be like the Wings without Lidstrom. Be prepared cause it is gonna be ugly. The guy was a freak, too bad the Lions can't put it all together.

When you say the same horseshit every season, it stands to reason you will be right someday.

My dad used to watch Jeopardy every night when I was a kid. And no matter what the answer was, he would say "Who is Napoleon?". Old Trebek could say "This man was the first president of the United States" and my dad would say "Who is Napoleon?"

One night the answer was something like "This famous French leader was exiled to the Island of Elba". My dad answers "Who is Napoleon?" .. and of course, he finally got one right.

He walked over, turned off the TV, and never watched Jeopardy again til the day he died. When I asked him why, he said "I'm going out on top".

You and your "top defense" and "11-5" season predictions remind me a lot of my dad. You just keep saying the same shit until you're right. I now recommend, since you were finally right, you stop posting and walk away... go out on top.

Please.

I was right. And it's from knowledge of the Lions not a dumb guess like your dad.

And I'll be right again this year.

LKP 02/02/2013:

"Easy to fix. Get Jackson back and a top 5 DE. Young returns to 2011 form. DE is fixed

LB get Durant back and start Whitehead Lewis or Palmer for Levy and we are the same there.

CB get Houston back and we are better with healthy Bentley and Green in year 2. Plus maybe a Round 2 CB.

Safety get Delmas healthy and Carey/a vet like George Wilson, safety is fixed.

DT is set with Suh/Fariley.

This D can be top 10, top 5. Losing Avirl, Levy, CW,KVB mean nothing."

Same stuff every year. Good thing we didn't lose Levy though huh?

A swing and a miss on that one..

DE was fixed in 2013 with Ansah and Young back to form. DT was set. We didn't have health in the secondary (Delmas, Bentley, Quin ankle, Houston, Mathis missed some). Houston was hurt twice. The defense was good in a ton of areas in 2013 but gave up the big play due to injury. Levy took a nice jump (unexpected by all). I was pretty much spot on with how good the defense could be when healthy. 2014 proved that too.

Unexpected injuries hurt the protection and run game. Stafford played well given the circumstance. I was right on that one. 11-5

All time favorite story on the board. Your Dad was playing the odds though, Who is Napoleon probably had a reasonable chance at being the right answer eventually. I just hope the LKP Super Bowl I told you so happens in our lifetimes.
