2015 Free Agent Thread

This team has no leadership. Let them all walk. It...won't change the culture. This is a hobby for the Fords. Suh is gone.

Sorry, but I'm good with Suh, Fairley, and yes...even Tully...not being in Detroit next year. Raiola...fuck him.

Having the "best" DT is not necessary for winning the SB. Get a top 10 guy, mix in a solid rookie or second top 15 guy (can afford both for Suh's money). Or use this transition to go to 3-4 D and get a NG who is top 10. So many options, to say they MUST sign Suh is not grasping reality. He is not worth the money plus suspensions. Fairley isn't worth the injury risk and lack of heart. Tully is older and was replaced this year with minimal drop off, freeing up more $ to get more talent elsewhere.

Build a TEAM for once.

KEEP PRATER!!! I'd absolutely give him a raise. To go through another situation like early in the year...no way can Mayhew be THAT stupid, right? I'd bet Prater wouldn't even cost that much and would be willing to give the Lions a discount since they gave him a second chance.

Can't say I recognize a single name on that list. Any chance one will actually play next year?

2 Cs and 3 DTs sure makes it look like they are hoping for a cheap 2nd string guy for those spots. Only way to counter what they will give Suh is to have cheap 2nd stringers in many spots, so I'm anticipating quality depth to be a major challenge next year if they do invoke The Tag on Suh. Signed to a contract wouldn't be as painful, until gets a long term ban for being stupid.

Weren't they pretty high on Ness this year? Be nice if we didn't have to replace Ihedigbo via draft.

It's a shame trades aren't more common place in the NFL. He's consistently ranked in the top 100 players in the entire league.

30 year old LB with a torn acl something teams are usually looking to trade for?

#1 Resign Suh to 6 yrs/$106 million contract. Gives him $1 million a year over Watt. That should satisfy his ego.

#2 Sign Clint Boling. I want a vet rather than drafting a rookie to groom.

#3 Resign Fairley. Try to put as many incentives as possible. Motivated Fairley= Good Fairley

#4 Resign Prater. He solidified the kicking game after a slow start.

#5 Resign Mathis. He has been a good player and contributor in a weak team position.

#6 Bye Bush, Broyles, Ross, Raiola and Sims

Focus the draft on OL, Secondary

Need another solid DE IMO Hopefully one could fall in the draft, but absolutely need a stud DE to compliment the Ansah, Suh, Fairley combo if that is what Detroit is going to roll with.

A free agent we could get cheaply would be DaQuan Bowers. The guy was a possible #1 overall pick if injury didn't come into play. He has underperformed his potential. I would like to see what Austin could do with him.

Also would like to see George Johnson get more playing time over Jason Jones. Johnson had 6 sacks in limited playing time. That's more than Jones ever had in a season.

A lot of decisions to be made if suh is gone. Theres guys like dan Williams, tommy Kelly and terrance cody out there that can anchor a 3-4. But if we stay 4-3 than that DE position needs to be upgraded for sure....especially if suh leaves. Jones should be gone...he had an awful season. not sure if Johnson is the answer...I still view him as quality depth.

I really have no issue with this plan, other than to me at least, it sounds like we'd be way over the cap.

I could be wrong. I really have no clue what any of these guys is likely to get paid in free agency. I don't know if Suh gets 12MM per, or 24MM per, or 1MM per. The talent, on paper, and the plan for the draft seems solid to me... but can we afford it?

I have no idea how this would work with the cap. That's not my responsibility. My job is to come up with solutions to the problems. That's the good part about being a fan.

So now I can say my plan would have been perfect if Mayhew would have done it, whether it was feasible or not.
