He certainly didn't protect Matt much last year. I think that's why some are underwhelmed.. we have 2 RT's.
Decker started at LT the last 2 years at OSU. He can play both

What would make day 2 a rebound from the unpopular Decker pick? What do you guys want to see in rounds 2 and 3?

I hope you're right. I don't listen to all the pundits and I don't care if his arms are a 1/2 inch from being elite, lol. But I hear his footwork is not good. I guess we're find out.
You're right. His strength is run blocking. Doesn't mean he's garbage at protecting the QB. Just means he's a little stiff and needs to work on it. The kid has a great attitude and comes from an ELITE program. Nobody in this room likes Reiff and nobody has a lick of faith in Ola. How this pick is unpopular is mindboggling to me lol. He'll start 100% on the left or right.
I just liked other guys left on the draft board more than him and I like to think I know more than guys who evaluate for a living because I'm an armchair gm 3 weeks out of the year. I'm at least glad Quinn addressed a need.
Just did a quick look at some of the mock drafts. Here is a site with 8 "experts". Only 3 have him going in the first round (picks 18,22,26)

Now....that doesn't mean shit because it only takes one team to agree with those 3 guys and he is gone.
According to him, Lions said they were taking him if available at 16...Vernon Butler, half of the Lions board favorite DL guy, to the Panthers.

On a side note - looks like Myles Jack had a $5m insurance policy if he didnt get drafted in the first round. So he got paid!! (especially if he gets picked in the 2nd round - which is around a $6m/4yr contract)
Im just glad they didnt trade up for anyone.
This is a deep draft, with lots of 'good' talent, but not much elite talent. That makes Rounds 2-3 extremely important. Ive seen analysts say the skill level between #20 and #70 on their board is very close. The Lions currently have one second round pick, and a 3rd round comp pick (96 overall) so they cannot afford to lose picks to go up a few spots. The draft is a lottery anyways, and you need to maximize your picks(tickets) to hit the jackpot!
As for Round 2 - take a DT. There are still 3 or 4 stud DTs on the board who I think they need to consider.
Round 3 - go best LB or CB left in the draft.
I'd be fine with them trading some later round value and a 2nd to move up in the 2nd and land one of the first round guys that fell.
Dodd is still on the board. Ragland is there. Alexander is there. Jarran Reed.
