2016 NFL Draft Thread

The last couple picks were interesting, but overall I like that they are addressing the trenches. That's where games are won and lost. Hoping for the best for all these new guys

Todays Lions team notes draft news posts started on page 136 post 2714.
Just finished as the draft ends.

A few sites I go to, SideLionReport, TodaysPigskin, NFLZone did not have anything to add today. Maybe later or Sunday.

Lots of player info, videos, stats, analysis.

Some things stand out to me that many of the writers, football talk repeatedly said; versatility, Tough players, mean streaks, football smarts.

Also, that the Lions draft looks similar to what the Patriots do by drafting players with those above mentioned attributes and fit into what kind of players and schemes the Lions use.

This was enjoyable and also made for a busy day.

Yours truly, with very little football smarts, gives the Lions draft a 'B' grade.

I'll add to your word cloud list KC - utility. Each of these players fit a cog in an overall machine (whether or not they are the piece that fits is debatable). Every player they picked has a role to contribute whether it is offense /defense/special teams/ or even a freaking long snapper! There is no BPA, no picks with high upside that may or may not materialize, no injuries that need recovery, no red flags, all have a spot on the depth chart right now.

As for the grade its is always too early to tell for at least three years. It was even harder to grade the Lions in the past...Most of Mayhew's draft picks never lasted that long!

"Too early to tell how the draft is going to be for 3 years".

Like I said, little football smarts here. I agree with you on players having a role. I think the words you used utility and depth are apropos. Quinn did say he wanted to add that to the team.
I hope I'm around to see how this team gets better the next few years with Quinn's drafting, free agency, etc.

Considering this board didn't start shitting on Quinn until day 3, I think it went pretty well in our eyes.

I must admit, I am really geeked about adding Glasgow and Decker to the Offensive line. Those are some big tough dudes. And of course A'Shawn Robinson is a beast as well. Decker will start no doubt. Not sure Glasgow will at first, but he may end up being a starter. I figure Robinson will get lots of time if not start himself.

I saw this.. Lions GM Bob Quinn again said he expects to be in nickel 70 percent of the time. Does that seem like a lot.
