2019 Lions Offseason Moves, Lions re-sign LS Don Muhlbach

I appreciate lists like these but i hate when they try to cram like 3 different positions into the same list and call them edge. When i hear edge rusher im thinking a 3-4 OLB that stands up and does 1 thing...rushes the qb. Then they throw guys like trey flowers on lists like these whos more of a 3-4 DE imo. Trey flowers would be a great updrage over Hand moving Hand into a rotational role with Aswhawn on passing downs. Fowler is probably a good 4-3 DE but he can be that 3-4 edge guy in our defense with enough size to hold his own vs the run. Intersting this article views him as a tier 2 FA....i think hes worth more....if you can get him for 10mil a year or less itd be a steal. Then you see guys on this list like Anthony Barr...whos probably a better cover LB than rusher and probably belongs lumped in with the Okwara/Kennards of the world.

Dante Fowler Jr. (DE - Los Angeles Rams)
Dante Fowler is a name that is not gathering enough attention as we inch towards the offseason. The defensive end was traded from the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Rams midway through the season and has given Los Angeles the edge presence they desperately needed. He missed his rookie season with a knee injury but did have 12 sacks in his first two seasons with the Jaguars. He added four more between both teams in 2018.

Fowler will most likely be a second-tier free agent this offseason, but he still has a lot to provide to a defense. He is versatile and had the athletic profile of a top-five draft pick. He has only missed one game since returning from his rookie season injury, so health is not really a concern either. There also is a very real chance he has a Super Bowl championship to his name when he hits the market this spring.

Michael,
I have signed up with a few of the SBNation Blogs, this one POD Pride Of Detroit, and the Tigers Bless You Boys to post in their comments section a few times a year. If you sign up and ask in the comments section of this story link you will probably be able to get the answers you need.

Detroit Lions Breakdown Podcast Episode #95: Everything Offense. 52 minutes.

This is Super Bowl week and since the Lions are not participating Erik and Joe will begin breaking down position groups for next season. This week the focus is on the offense, mainly the skill positions.

The opening of the offensive discussion has to do with the changes in the coaching staff, first the removal of offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter and replacing with Darrell Bevell.

The Lions offensive needs are changing with the hiring of Bevell, his usage of a fullback, and free agent targets with ties to Bevell.

Lions RB coach David Walker walks away from coaching and now the Lions have another offensive coaching position to fill.

QB coach George Godsey is seemingly no longer employed by the Lions and is reportedly going to resume coaching with the Miami Dolphins.

Former Houston Texans QB coach Sean Ryan has been hired by the Lions as their new quarterbacks coach, how will he help Matthew Stafford.

What does it take to fully implement a new playbook on offense?

How long does Erik think the Lions will need to adapt to the new scheme/playbook?

Could there be more coaching changes on the way?

Will the Lions target a backup QB in free agency, the draft or both?

Will Theo Riddick have a role in the new offense?

Which running backs will the Lions be targeting in free agency and the draft?

Could Marvin Jones really end up being be cut/traded?

What might we see from Michael Roberts in 2019?

Dispelling rookie tight end myths on whether they can be completely effective in their rookie seasons.

Are there any skill positions the Lions could target at #8 in the NFL Draft?

Could Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson work in the new system and would they consider picking him at #8?
