Does Theo Epstein?s exit from Chicago signal an opportunity for the Tigers?
The Cubs seem on the verge of at least a partial teardown. The Tigers could potentially speed up the rebuild with a trade.

SO YOU WANT TO BE THE GM?
Totally Tigers

Once again, readers get a chance to make their own decisions about the Tigers. So You Want to Be the GM? offers you that opportunity.
The segment tests our readers in determining how they would handle decisions as the General Manager. So here is your next assignment. Let?s get to it!
(Comments may be extended for this segment, but please do not exceed 8 sentences in your response).
As GM of the Tigers, you have had a very busy off-season already. You have hired a new manager and gave him the task of hiring all of his coaches; a task that arguably makes the off-season a success already.
However, there is still much to do in preparation for a new season in 2021.
So what are your next steps? What is your top priority of things to address in the off-season?
Please participate in the survey in order to state your case on your next steps for the off-season. Don?t forget to come back and check the results and include your comments that support your choice.

What is your top priority of things to address in the off-season?

1. Consider trades /scan free agent market for needs all over the diamond.

2. Further discussions with Hinch about scouting and analytics departments.

3. Address hiring of new training staff with help of AJ Hinch.

4. Other.

Detroit Tigers: Will Al Avila make good on his pitch to AJ Hinch?

Square one and they have to start somewhere. They need a veteran catcher to build there young pitching staff around. It's like drafting a quarterback without a quarterback coach, it's been done. Hey you got have the right mix to make a cake taste great. O the icing on the cake (a good catcher) makes it work.
Pitching and "catching" go hand and hand. Half the team is invested in young pitching they need to have an "Ivan veteran", catcher to manage the pitching! It's like building a great starting staff without good relievers. They done that too. You got to have the whole package. A good catcher is a must. The young ones can learn from. And you have to have good defense a well. That where a good GM and Manager needs to work together.
