2021 MLB Draft Tigers Picks: Draft Jackson Jobe 1.3.

As a rule I'm not a huge fan of drafting HS players that high......but all GM's need to plan for the future years as well.

You can hate AA all you want, but I don't believe this is a bad pick. We have bats coming and money to spend (even with Miggy's terrible contract). Grabbing a super talented kid that high and then doubling down on a more MLB ready prospect later in the 1st is a solid move....IMO.
 
Favorable low arm slot from Jobe. That's a plus. Serious stride length. Looks rather relaxed and under control, too.

High school position players seem like a big risk to me. There is a LONG way to go for a 17-19 year old kid to be a big league ready bat/defender.

Personally, I like the Jobe pick. Is seems like, at the very least, he could be a plus plus pen guy.....possible future closer. You can succeed in the pen at the MLB level with two plus pitches, which he seemingly has.

The way the bullpen looked yesterday, I highly doubt that kid could have done any worse. Can we finally end the Joe Jimenez experiment please!

From what I read, Jobe has 3 plus pitches (graded 70 slider, 60 fastball, 60 change). From what I read, Madden is the guy with 2 pitches (grades 60 fastball & 60 slider). Given his age (21) he could be a BP arm in the near future.

Pacheco is a solid pick..athletic left handed power bat..will quickly transition to 3B or an OF corner..I'm sure they will play him some at SS..
