2023 NFL Draft

More of a problem with him lying to the police. And work ethic questions that have come up too

Holmes and Campbell and scouts will interview him and get to bottom of his character if worthy at 6 or even 18 now

We will see if we get a vet dt in free agency first too

I would?ve been more worried if he didn?t return to the scene. Most may disagree but IMO that showed a positive conscious returning to a tragic scene he initially left.

Parsons had character concerns coming into the 21 draft, wonder how many teams would pass on him today?

I know everyone would prefer the elite athlete choir boy unicorn, but sometimes the talent is worth the risk.

Saw on TV that Carter got a ticket in September for going 90 in a 45

He is definitely the fastest DT in this years draft

Buckle up?We may be targeting a QB sooner and higher than most would like!

Smart answer by him to keep it open ended for any trade downs. We will see

I really don't think it will make or break the 2023 season. If Lions are smart in FA with re-signs and some new players on smart contracts, hit on pick 18, two Round 2 picks and Round 3, Lions can win the division regardless what we do at pick 6 (5-1 division record without any of these rookies or new FAs and with Goff at QB). One pick will not define the Lions for 2023. Overall additions as a whole, player and coaching development will.

Pick 6 if it is a QB, Goff is still the starter. for 2023 and 2024 if he does well in 2023 of course. Lions would have a great backup plan and a good plan for the future after 2024. Stroud or Levis could sit 2 years no problem if they fall to 6. Would they be BPA over some of the defensive players. And I'm sure people will be bitching we took a player that isn't going to help the Lions right away (but could potentially if Goff got hurt)

Plenty of franchise QBs have sat while teams have made the playoffs too.

Free agency could tell us too if the Lions sign a vet FA QB to decent money.

I think I'm good either way defense or QB at 6. Brad Holmes has earned my trust with these past 2 drafts

If you take a QB at 6, your plan should be he starts year 2 at the latest. I think it's too much draft capital to let the #6 pick sit for 2 years.

If we take a QB like AR15 at 6, I wouldn't mind him sitting behind Goff for multiple seasons as he needs some seasoning so to speak. If he proceeds two year of bench play with 10+ years of high end starter play those first two years won't matter.

With that said, the ideal scenario would be to trade Goff in 2024 while he is still under contract. If he has another year like last year, he would have a ton of value. Especially if Ben Johnson lands a HC gig next off-season without a QB in place.

Agree would be tough to sit a QB two full years but I think Richardson needs to sit 2 years. I am worried he is a Malik Willis (looked awful) but slightly better too.

But on the flip side, you don't get that in game experience. Lions are too good and need to win now to be messing with a rookie/inexperienced QB and hope he gets better through in-game experience. Unless you don't mind taking a step back in 2024 to get the new QB up to speed on the fly in-game.

To me, we can win a Super Bowl POSSIBLY with Goff in 2023/2024. It's not a probable of course but it is higher than other scenarios. I don't think we could win a Super Bowl with any of this QB draft class until 2025 (and we would have to keep the core of this team together and figure out life after Ben Johnson too). But maybe I'm wrong and Stroud comes in and leads Lions to playoffs and NFC North title in 2023 or 2024. Who the hell knows. Goff could easily take a step back too and then we will be regretting not taking a swing at QB or picking in the teens in 2024 and not having the ability to get a QB (or have to use more than one pick to trade up just to get a QB).

If I'm drafting a QB to sit for a year or two, I'm taking Hooker in the 2nd before I would take Richardson at pick 6.

If we draft a QB early, good chance Holmes thinks he?s the guy for the job and Goff is gone. If teams are interested in Carr, those same teams would have interest in Goff.

I see the talent in Carter......but there were already quite a few question marks going in to his senior year about his work ethic...now you add in questions about his maturity and his peer group......i'd be out at this point.

I don't want him. If he fell to #6.....I'd trade out to a team that was willing to trade up to get him......or I'd just go another way.

Then the guy better be Young or Stroud...because the other two aren't ready.

Yep. Richardson and Levis would be huge risks compared to Stroud/Young

Any QB is still a risk but Richardson and Levis more so

Holmes would not put the 2023 season in the hands of a rookie if he took Stroud.

Goff would be the starter all year unless he really struggled and the Lions were out of it by November. And I don't see that happening with Ben Johnson here and how much Goff improved.

Putting pressure on a rookie Stroud and hurting his confidence and not having a backup plan at QB would not be good if they immediatley traded Goff. Also FA would be over so the cap savings wouldn't help us free agency in 2023 at least, just carryover for 2024

Now if Goff got hurt, then that is another thing. If Ben Johnson got Stroud to play at Goff's level from last year with a top 5 offense for a rookie, that would be pretty impressive. Of course, we didn't expect Goff to play so well last year either so Johnson already impressed

Cut the crap. If Holmes invested extra draft capital to move up to grab his guy, Goff would be gone. I?m not predicting that?s what he?ll do but ?if? he moves up, that will be his guy in 2023.

F*** the pressure, you?re an NFL QB. Fight or flight!

Plenty of QBs sit a year. Including Maholmes

Zero chance Stroud would start over Goff day 1

Everything they said, Goff is the starter and would look terrible for them to change their mind and just trade Goff away after he led a top 5 offense

6th in yards and 8th in TDs, 6th in YPA and 7th in QB rating, 2nd lowest for ints, 10th in pass attempts in league. Stroud can't match that as a rookie. And Goff is not a game manager only

They are not going to tank the 2023 season so a rookie can play QB and learn.
