2025 Tigers Spring Training

Because it's ST. It doesn't matter. I don't care about the HRs he gave up, they mean nothing. I've always said that about ST. I only mentioned it because you specifically brought up the fact his velocity was up and his ST version etc. Like 8 IP in ST should change anything. Like he should earn a spot based solely on that..
I was joking about his spring training stats. Didn't you see the ;) at the end? That said, I wouldn't say that spring training means nothing. If you have two players that are fighting for a job, one has a great spring, and the other sucks, I think I'm taking the guy that had the great spring.

I don't know what that emoji meant. Possibly but I suspect it's based on more than just ST stats. One guy won't get a job based on 8-23 compared to 7-25 guy. Not by itself. If that was the case Jobe would be front runner to land a spot. Jahmai Jones would be starting in CF.

Days of Roar Tigers Podcast: Jason Benetti talks Detroit Tigers: 2025 preview, 2024 reflections, inside his.

Jason Benetti — the TV voice of the Detroit Tigers and Michigan Sportscaster of the Year — joins the "Days of Roar" podcast to discuss a variety of topics, including his 2025 preview and 2024 reflections, both for the broadcast team and the baseball team. Benetti breaks down his iconic call during the 2024 postseason run: "A city that doesn't care about the odds has a baseball team to match." He also shares insight into the A.J. Hinch effect and what he's looking for out of Tarik Skubal, Riley Greene and Jackson Jobe in 2025. In addition to Benetti, Evan and Mark recap the past week of spring training games, share an injury update on Parker Meadows and evaluate the signing of José Urquidy. Two important questions are addressed: Which player is most crucial to the Tigers' success in 2025? And how good can the starting rotation become, especially if Casey Mize continues his strong performances?

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY.

Over the weekend, Jackson Jobe made some rather controversial comments about his pitching performance that caught the eye of many, including his manager, A. J. Hinch.
His statement to the press appeared to hint at a lack of maturity due to his young age, a failure to respect the competition and what was seen as a diss to the Tigers’ mantra of controlling the strike zone. Many saw that comment as a resistance to the Tigers’ strategy and even the coaching.

While Jobe pitched 3 2/3s innings of shut-out baseball, he had problems throwing strikes. His total was considered below-average in MLB. He walked 2 batters and only got 1 strikeout in facing 14 hitters.
He indicated that his ability to throw hard would see him through and felt confident that he has fine-tuned his pitching. Jobe has only pitched 4 innings at the MLB level.
Those statements motivated Max Scherzer to utter some diplomatic words of caution and advice for how to have a long and successful career in baseball as a pitcher. Hinting that pitching with finesse – instead of simply throwing really hard – is the better and safer option.

So what should the Tigers do? Name him to Opening Day, send him down to Toledo to work on throwing strikes or offer a teaching moment?

How should the Tigers handle Jackson Jobe for the start of the 2025 season?

1. Name him to the Opening Day roster as a SP.

2. Name him to the Opening Day roster and then allow him to get a reality check.

3. Send him to AAA to improve his CSW% (Called Strike + Whiff Rate)/gain some maturity.
