2025 Tigers Spring Training

ABBOTT & COSTELLO CALLED IT.

Yeah but at 15m it's Torres job. No point in speculating.
I'm just telling you what I think. Keith at 2B, Tork at 1B, and Torres should have never been signed. 3B is where they had nobody. If they were going to sign a stopgap player, they should have signed someone that can play 3B, even if his bat is below average.

the time for blaming the AA regime is over. She says that the system had no 3B but Keith was a 3B. He profiled as a 3B going back to draft day. He hurt his throwing shoulder so they wanted to move him to 2B. I would love to know if they could have actually "fixed" his shoulder with surgery or rest, vs just letting him play and move to a position that doesn't require him to throw as much/hard.

And I think we all agree with the Torres signing and moving everyone around. They were so focused on Bregman they didn't have a backup plan at 3B. Though I disagree about the Tork thing.. In 3 seasons he had a good 3 months. They might have signed the wrong guy at the wrong position but if Tork was worth anything they would have had no need..

I think we can all agree that he was rushed to the big leagues. His rookie year was a waste. Year 2 he was good. last year was a roller coaster, but when he was called up after his demotion, he was the 3rd best hitter on the team behind only Carp and Meadows. He didn't need replaced.

There's a reason Colt Keith was moved from 3rd base and over to 2nd besides his throwing arm and shoulder. He wasn't very good.

Looks as if Scott Harris assumed that Bregman would sign with the Tigers for the outlandish sum they offered him. I'm glad they didn't. but putting all their eggs in one basket was not prudent.

3rd best on a team that didn't hit well? I'm not sure that's a ringing endorsement. Top picks who went to college for 3 years get rushed all the time. The mistake was that he missed development during covid when the minor leagues were shut down. 1B should hit better..

You shouldn't want a guy just because he was slightly above average on a team full of below average hitters. He was good in August, 14 games. Afterward in 28 games his numbers were .210 .319 .677.

The Detroit Tigers offered Alex Bregman the best and biggest contract but he turned them down after 3.5 months of negotiations for a much smaller contract. Now he wants everyone to believe he thought he'd end up in Detroit. It's part of a tactic used by his agent, Scott Boras.

Bregman has an opt out after 2025. He's trying to mend fences w/Detroit to create another bidding war. Reports had Bregman saying he didn't want to go to Detroit. This is an attempt to try to change perception and once again use the Tigers as leverage to get a bigger contract.

Fk him.

Colt Keith back at second base? Only because A.J. Hinch is a total mad scientist for Tigers.
Freep
“Colt is a good second baseman and can handle that position,” Hinch said.

Somebody is lying. If he's a good second baseman, there was absolutely no reason to sign Torres!!
