Am I just a sucker?

I really like Ajayi and think he's going to be special. He goes in the second. There's a chance but its slim he's there for us. Kid has giddy up but needs to stop fumbling, which he cleaned up last year a bit.

I think Duke Johnson fits our O to a tee. He goes in the 2nd but could possibly slip into the 3rd. We dont have a prayer if he slips into the 3rd tho..

My darkhorse.......Langford from MSU. Workhorse who could be the next Leveon Bell if he gets the right fit. A lot of mocks have this kid going between 4-6th rd. Crazy if he lasts until the 4th IMO

I'll tell ya the truth. I want Gurley as a Lion in the worse way. He's a special talent and could slip to us. Jump on it!!

Langford running the quickest 40 of the rbs will get him drafted in the first 3 rds, imo. If he does indeed fall to us in the 4th, I'd be more than ok with it. And, yeah, Gurley could be amazing, but we can't afford taking a guy that tore his acl last year in the 1st. I just can't see it happening. Duke Johnson is electric at times, but clearly Gurley is in a class of his own, and that includes Gordon. If we can't lock up Suh, Mayhew is going to grab his"replacement" in round 1. Waiting to hear what Suh is going to do is getting old already. Everything is on hold until we find out which way he's gonna go.

Still got a feeling they land Suh.

So somewhat scary though: With the defense being dominant last year and the offense struggling, what is the chance Mayhew views RB as a much more valuable commodity simply because he thinks improving the skill position improves the whole offense (which seems to be his M.O.)?

round 2 or 3 on a speed back is about right. 4 years of a cheap draft pick.

Spending on Spiller, Forsett or Vereen, we'll see on the price.

I think Spiller would be an intriguing buy in FA. He will come cheap due to injury history and wont be needed to be the feature guy. Hes everything bush ever was with potential to make more of an impact at a much cheaper rate.

Agreed on that. Depends on the price. He can give us some explosive plays. We are used to Bush hurt now and still have Riddick, Spiller for 8 games is something of value.

Why would Spiller be cheaper than Bush?

his market value will be much less than when bush was a FA. spiller is coming off back to back to back injury plagued seasons and never turned out to be the feature guy in buffalo. They played him sparingly in a "starting" role. Conversely Bush was the feature guy in MIA and was brought here to be a feature guy. Spiller will be paid to come in and be spot duty with big play potential. Maybe even return duties??? that should command a much cheaper contract on the market....unless one of those salary floor teams overpays him to be the guy....like a jax. But that would be dumb at this point in spillers career....

So what I meant was why would Spiller be cheaper than Bush NOW. Bush can't stay healthy either, and like it was said does all the same things as Spiller. If the team was going to spend on a FA RB like Spiller, why wouldn't they have just kept Bush (the money we saved from the cut is likely less than it will cost to get Spiller)?

Bush cut is more than just this year. Saved money in 2016 too (no dead money now but if we cut Bush next year their would be dead money in 2016).

RB market continues to fall. Spiller's 2015 cap number could be less than 1.7 million.

Could be, sure, but only with a multi-year contract, which again eats up the savings from Bush being cut this year. I can understand if you think Spiller will sign for near the minimum, but I just don't expect that. RB market is falling, but it's not gone. There are always teams with needs at RB, and Spiller is far more likely to sign with a team that would give him snaps and potentially a starting role than a team viewing him as the third or situational back.

If you don't think that's possible, I would just point to Bush in Miami. Bush had a very similar road as Spiller in New Orleans (including injury problems), but Miami still picked him up and gave him bell-cow carries. That worked out for them, and some team is going to pick up Spiller hoping for a similar result.

The nerve of some people to tell someone else they shouldn't get paid what they think they are worth.

The nerve of some qbs to take a bunch of money then play like kyle orton his entire career.

Probably will command a similar number id guess. Bush should be viewed as a veteran on the down side of his career. Spiller wont be viewed as a rb with as much mileage. that mileage really effects a rbs market value more than any other position....hence shady McCoy gets traded in year 7.
