Not winning anything keeps Stafford out of the hof. Everybody puts up big numbers anymore. Guy can't even make the probowl without injuries and top qbs refusing the invite

Nine of top-25 QBs in career passing yards are active, so "everybody" does not put up big numbers. In time, 13 are/will be in HOF, including Rivers, Ryan, and perhaps Palmer. Stafford should exceed Rivers and Palmer in Yds Passing. It's not unreasonable that Stafford reaches the top-10. (He's 11,000 yds shy of Moon, who is in the HOF)

Any qbs in the Hof that didn't win a single playoff game? I think this generation of qbs will be judged in a different light. At some point passing yards have to be looked at as obsolete, because they are now

Sonny Jurgenson.

Of this "generation," only Wilson stands in relief as an HOF possibility. And, I think Stafford is of the tail of the past "generation" given his 10 seasons. Maybe Cousins, Luck, Wentz, Mayfield and those who follow will be judged differently.

Didn't stop Marino.

In my personal opinion, the qualifications to reach the Hall of Fame have been vastly watered down since Terrell Davis was inducted. I feel like the bar has been lowered to allow standout players from all the teams in, which is a way to market Canton to people... come see your favorite players of the past... everyone gets a prize.

A lot of guys I never thought were worthy of that honor are getting it these days, and I feel Stafford might finish top 10 in several categories, which is going to put him in under this weakened system.

Would he have been inducted 20 years ago? Probably not. Will he be once he retires? I am pretty sure he will.

Still am baffled at this.

Looking at the recent classes (2010 - present) I am surprised at the number of players I never knew were in the league and how many played a generation ago.

Agreed.

I still say it was Terrell Davis that watered it down. He played 8 seasons.... he had four good ones, one of which was amazing, three not so good, and the last one he never touched the field.

He was in fact a Superbowl hero twice. He did have a 2,000 yard season. He was short of 8,000 career rushing yards. In his moment, he was among the most dominating running backs ever to play.. but his moment was four seasons long.

There's not much about his resume that says CANTON... but those two Superbowls and his 2K season got him in. And since then... well... I've had my doubts about a few guys that have gotten in.

This coming year, Edgerrin James is almost a lock to make it, and again... I just don't see it. But hey, we need someone else in a Colts helmet to get the fans from Indy to come see the Hall, so let's put Edgerrin James in!

You look at some of the guys who are making it, and you realize, Matt Stafford will too.

I think if he wants to get in he needs to retire and be up for HOF consideration prior to all these active guys that are all putting up crazy yardage. Or he could simply win something that mattered. I dont see him Dan Marino'ing his way into the HOF.

Yards alone won't get you to the Hall. No ALL Pro's, no MVP, no SB not even a playoff win. Maybe one or more of this happen but as of right now he's quite a ways of making the Hall. Those awards he doesn't come close.. What's his best standing in an MVP race?

With Ken Anderson not in (yards very comparable in different era), MVP got to a SB no way Matt gets in. Further, Matt has never led the league in yards passing and the past season he was not even top 10.

More important when others talk about him he doesn't get much praise.

And by the time voting occurred he'd be top 15-20 and 20 years later he might be top 40.
