Ansah injury

What is with recent high picks being hurt their rookie season..Leshoure, Broyles, Fairley and now Ansah.

True about Staff though it was longer ago. I didn't throw Delmas in either because he didn't get hurt his first season. Not that I remember anyway.

The 1st 3 are valid, but I think it's a little early to bash on Ansah. He's played in all 8 games so far. And we got unlucky with Leshoure, unlucky/stupid with Broyles, and unlucky with Fairley, but it is football after all. Players get hurt all the time.

If he had 10 sacks I'd be concerned....but taylor and idonije can do the same job as ansah has to this point of his early career.

I'm not bashing him. Walking in a boot sounds like he could miss time, and players do get hurt all the time and yet there are players who play for years who never miss a game.

On a side note, I know he's raw but where's this animal / beast mode I've always heard.

Ill be honest....i thought we could put a trained monkey at DE and get the production Avril had the past few years with Suh/Fairley inside....looks like i was wrong. Dline has been horrid.

3 sacks, 3 QB hits and 11 hurries and +2 run D. I'll take that for a raw rookie facing stud LTs all day. We knew he would be raw. Thankfully Willie Young has picked things up (2 sacks, 7 hits, 25 hurries), Suh is a damn stud, Fairley had one good game and is picking it up and the other guys get some production.

KVB had 12 hurries in 16 games and -16 run defense and Young had 0 sacks, 4 hits and 12 hurries in 16 games.. Huge upgrade still for a raw guy with Ansah and Young picked it up.

Young won't get the sacks Avril had, but in half the games in 2013 Young matched what Avril did all of last year in hits and hurries. And Young is better in run defense.

Young picked it up for Avril.

Who are these 8 Stud LT he's been playing..? And you really need to get off the hurries stat. It means less than you think. Plus, KVB sucked last season, not a good comparison.

totally fair. Ansah has had his ups and downs and if youre looking at hurries and run defense hes doing a solid job. Which is probably more than you should expect for a rookie at the position when you only primarily rush 4. I was merely stating i thought Avrils numbers were always glorified due to 1 v 1 because of suh/fairley and that may not neccesarily be the case since no one this year has really replaced those sack/strip sack numbers.

I think its also fair to assume most people expected a higher sack total at this point of the season for him.....thats definitely not placing too high of expectations on him just cause he was a top 5 pick. Personally i thought hed have more just due to suh/fairley alone.

Rookie DEs often struggle in their first year. I would have thought that 5 sacks for the year would be good for Ansah. Hopefully he can not miss much time and have an impact against lesser teams in the second half.

Its not really about the sacks but it seems I barely hear his name. Maybe I have high expectations but I want more.

This is what he has seen so far this year:
Vikings M. Kalil*
Zona L. Brown
Skins T. Williams*
Bears J. Bushrod
Green Bay D. Bakhtiari
Browns J. Thomas*
Bengals A. Whitworth*
Cowbitch's T. Smith*

All very good LTs btw.

As for his sack numbers. Who cares really? Yeah, sacks are big but its the focus with some people too much. He'll get there with sack numbers but for now if he's getting some pressure, knocking down QBs, hurrying the QB and playing the run well, ill take that all day in his rookie year. He's raw as hell and he's going to be special one day....

All players do those, just depends on how much and I, that's I, would like to see more. For a top 5 pick, raw or not I was hoping for more. Its okay for me to have that opinion.
