According to the ESPN splits his best batting average is .225 depending on the 2 strike count.

What's the league average. That's what I meant.

0-2 the league average is a .474 OPS
1-2 its .519
2-2 its .597
3-2 its .814

Overall with 2 strikes its .534

Now Avila:
0-2 he's at .577
1-2 its .648
2-2 its .753
3-2 its .725
Overall with two strikes he hits .586.

Monster [/color]]Who gives a fuck? He's the god damn catcher! Aren't many catchers out there that have numbers like him. If you have a catcher thats hitting like he has, you have a huge offensive advantage. Stop complaining for fuck's sake! We could have a certain catcher from the past couple years that struggles to stay over .200.

cant say shit like that around here. people only bitch to fucking bitch. fucking team is cruising, but goddamn if they dont find SOMETHING to complain about. i swear half the board needs to swallow a fucking .45

So, he's killing it then. Thank you very much

Sorry to stir it up. I just felt like he isn't clutch. Guys over in my hometown call him rally killer or Mr.2 out and nobody on.

"Call the Smithsonian, it's talking to me".

If any of you know what "It" is, then you know what I mean.

another pathetic thread from a pathetic poster

seriously why does this fucktard still post here ?

he's like an abused wife who keeps going back time after time just to get her head kicked in again.

down 4 - 0 tonight early , I'd say the 3 run homer classifies as a "big hit "......no Chica ?

that's 1 this season anyway....lol

His 2 HRs against Tampa early would qualify as well.

1 to tie it, and then the walkoff to end it.

It was only in the 2nd inning. Clearly it wasn't clutch :)

Correction:

First one brought the Tigers within one.

The second was a 2 run shot in the 9th with the Tigers losing by one to walk it off.

In his second full Major League season, and before tonight, Tigers' catcher Alex Avila has a .295 average with runners in scoring position. With a runner on third and less than two outs, Avila is 9-for-18.

my oh my CHica took another thrashing in this thread....lol

Im telling you all , he has battered poster syndrome.

I love Alex Avila, I think he has great plate discipline for his age. His BABIP this year is off the charts though, its currently in the .375 range, while the average is .300.

So I have concerns that he will be able to duplicate this breakout year next year - Im expecting his Batting Average to drop around 25-30 points next year but we will have to wait and see.

This year tho - he has been Money. Huge reason why the Tigers are in 1st place

(The following is far more brilliant than this thread's original premise)

{overheard in a sports bar in Keego Harbor}
"....and he has always been my favorite on "This Old House"...... Wait ! Is that PBS guy's name Villa? First name Bob? Oh well! Anyway Alex can come on over, with his tools of ignorance, anytime anyway. Probably have him work on my clutch.....

Huge night AGAIN last night. Hit a 3-run HR to rally the troops to another victory.
