Avril Has Little Leverage

Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell has signed a five-year contract extension worth $55 million with $31 million guaranteed, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Friday.

Campbell will make $30.25 million in the first two years of the deal, the source said.

The first two years are most important. That's what Avril will see, anyways. That and the guaranteed money.

i understand the guaranteed money but he cant expect every team to be in the same financial shape over the next 2 seasons in order to front load a contract like that. some teams can do it...others cant. You have the stars on this team renogiating contracts to help the team out....if hes trying to put us in a bind over the next 2 seasons....even more reason to say peace out, imo. Like you said....pass rushers are at a premium....if you can get a 2nd round pick for his value id be all for it.

the $30.25 includes signing bonus, not sure what it is but if it was $12-15......his base would be $7-9
