Excellent game from the Wolverines against a decent Purdue team.. What a farcry from the Dick Rod era when his joke team lost to a worse Purdue team at home.. Thank goodness he's gone..

It's not the best win of the year, but I think it is one of the more important ones.

Not sure i'm understanding the importance of beating a lower level B1G school. Obviously we needed a win but come on... If Michigan splits the next four ill be happy.

Because Rich couldn't beat lower level Big 10 teams. Because this team in the past three years had an uncanny ability to cave in the 2nd half. This was a very important win for the kids.

forget richrod. I'm tired of hearing about him. His Michigan team beat Purdue last year. Just let it go...

Lol what? I'm explaining why this was an important win to this program... So it's somewhat necessary to compare it to what happened in the past.

For this team...at this point... the NEXT weeks win is the most important...don't I sound smug :)

So if they lost, it wouldn't have been a big deal? Every win is important, especially for a 1st year coach who is dealing with three years of 2nd half collapse stigma.

This win is huge in the respect that they could have folded with that quick 7 Purdue put up. Completely shut them down after that. They finally gave the running backs the ball and let them succeed. I really appreciate the fact that the coaches didn't give up on the backs after just one carry for no yards and then pass the rest of the game.

Well, looking at what has happened with Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, and OSU over the last few weeks I will be disappointed not to win every one of the remaining games. I mean Iowa lost to Minny today! OSU is very beatable, and we get them in the Big House. They beat Wiscy today though, which certainly deserves attention. Illinois have lost their last 3 games in a row after starting out 6 and 0. The only team that worries me is Nebraska, and we get them in the Big House, so I think we can pull out the win.

A loss to Purdue is always a big deal. A win over Purdue is never a big deal. THat's just how it is when you play MAC teams like that.

Given recent history with 2nd half slides under the LAST COACH (happy?), this was an important win. It's nice to see a team who is a favorite, actually go out and embrace that role.

Id say so far that the northwestern game was the best win so far. Played pretty well and beat a good team on the road.

I just think this win is about as important as beating EMU. It'd be a big deal if Michigan got beat by EMU. Does that make it a big game? Nope. Purdue gets lucky and beats Michigan about once every 20 years. When Michigan loses to Purdue its a big deal, just like when Michigan lost to Toledo and App St.

I still don't think that Michigan has a good win. The win over ND would probably be the biggest. Hopefully, the biggest win this season is yet to come.

Iowa
Nebraska
OH

winning one of those games would be a big deal.

I agree. I can't get too excited about a Purdue beat down. They are not a good team, and UM is supposed to crush them. It's not like Purdue is a championship level team. They are a bottom of the barrel B1G team. Does anyone think any big team in the SEC gets excited about beating Vanderbilt? Don't get me wrong I enjoyed watching the guys clown stomp Purdue, I just think we should keep it in perspective. Purdue, meh.

This win against Purdue was important in that it showed we were not the same team as last year. It shut up the naysayers claiming we were due for a 2nd half collapse.

a RichRod team probably wouldn't have won it, or it would've gone down to the wire. Purdue went up 7-0, and then our defense shut them down, even while our offense struggled with turnovers. that wouldn't have happened last year; they would've kept scoring, and we would've found ourselves in a tough game

we only beat them last year because their offense was so riddled with injuries they were fielding backups of backups

Last year, Michigan beat Purdue. I don't remember it being 'down to the wire,' although it was in question for a bit longer. I don't see how anyone can say that with RR, Michigan would've lost to Purdue. I just don't see it. The score wouldn't have been 36-14, but I still think Michigan wins despite RR's bad coaching.

Hoke coached Michigan still hasn't won any game that RR coached Michigan wouldn't have won. You want to measure everything over a comparison with RR. Fine, Hoke coached Michigan needs to beat someone that RR coached Michigan never beat...Iowa, Nebraska, OH, or bowl game...
