I really don?t know what an ?abortion ad? would be, but I do know that I have never seen anything that I would describe as an abortion ad.

Unlikely we'll see any changes, i think the Right wants to talk about abortion as a rallying cry to win votes, but when it comes down to it, they're ok with the status quo. There's a mythical chance that they could overturn it and that gets people to the polls, if you made abortion illegal, people may vote based on their economic needs. Also, do you really think that Republicans would be ok with the huge influx of social support needed if these unintended pregnancies were carried to term? you'd have an absolute explosion of SNAP, AFDC, Medicaid, all the things they hate.

I think it's all talk

Here is a little politics anecdote resulting from the Kavanaugh adventure -

While this may come as a surprise to conservative posters on this board, Diane Feinstein has actually generally been considered by conservatives/Republicans in California to be fairly moderate - in bluer than blue California, Feinstein is typically regarded by conservatives as being about "as good as its gonna get."

So Feinstein is up for re-election for her Senate seat this midterm. Some of you may be aware that Republicans are usually no longer allowed to run for statewide office in general elections here in California, although this one guy, Cox, managed to sneak onto the ballot for the gubernatorial election somehow.

Anyways, Feinstein's opponent, Kevin de Leon, I think he's a high ranking member of the California Assembly or Senate or something, is another Democrat, and considered to be way, way to the left of Feinstein.

A number of Californians - including me - found Feinstein's antics during the Kavanaugh hearings highly uncharacteristically partisan and unstatesman like - some prognosticators suggested it was to play to her base because for the first time in her career she’s facing a challenge from her left - so much so that there is speculation that conservatives and Republicans in California - maybe as many as all nine or ten of them - are considering voting for the substantially more liberal de Leon as a retaliation against Feinstein.

Feinstein has held a substantial lead in the polls over de Leon since the two were nominated during the primary.

Hope everybody found that interesting.

Yeah that is what my father-in-law always says . They want to use it every election.

If you claim that she’s lying, not knowing much about a human being, what is the probability that someone would destroy their life by going public with a false accusation? Why would she choose to tarnish the reputation of two men by making a false accusation? What is there to gain? Where is the incentive to lie?

Honestly, this is a ridiculous, tone deaf post - this is the leftist playbook to a T. Every conservative is a racist homophobe who wants to put women back in the kitchen. No one from your team argues the merits of anything - it's all about making the right look evil, Obama made it to the white house onthat playbook.

Her life is not destroyed, she is a hero to the left. She's been MASSIVELY enriched by this and she'll be able to cash in on this for years. Or the fact that she took her story to Dems on the judiciary committee panel, worked with their strategists and lawyers or the fact that she's a radical leftist feminist with a history of being a vocal anti-Trump activist? Do you really wonder what her motivation was? And does it really matter, given all the facts surrounding these allegations that destroy her credibility.

Lastly, I find it pretty ironic that you start your post with "If you claim that she’s lying, not knowing much about a human being..." when you jump in this thread asking if anyone doesn't think Kavanaugh lied under oath. How much do you know about him as a human being? other than you're certain he's a sexual predator or an angry aggressive drunk - which you likely believe based on your motivation, not actual facts.

hopefully a woman's "right" to brutally murder innocent defenseless human beings will be significantly curtailed soon.

not if you cut funding to those programs and make people aware of the consequences of their behavior, educate them about the importance of family, education and jobs, as opposed to telling them not to worry, the government will take care of you..

c'mon, there has to be at least 10 in LA (none in SF), then there's Orange County - not the whole country but aren't there a bunch of conservatives in Laguna or Huntington or Newport Beach - one of those towns?

Obviously I was exaggerating\joking juuuust a little bit.

I?d have to doublecheck but I think I?ve read there is something like maybe 10 Republicans in the house of representative out of around 40 California house seats.

When I last check, LA County was a nose over 50% registered Democrats, with the other right around half split almost evenly between Republicans and no party registration/third-party.

Every conservative is a racist homophobe? I never mentioned race or sexual orientation. I also said that it's likely Kavanaugh did nothing criminal in that incident. I just said that I believe he lied under oath.

It seems like you're going the "total fabrication " route vs the "mistaken identity."

Ok, she doesn't like trump and made social media posts about him, so that means that shes going to completely make this up and put her life under the microscope? If shes out to make money or get attention, why hasn't she given an exclusive interview? All the media outlets would love to talk to her but she couldn't get out of the spotlight fast enough.

Why put another person in the room if you want to make up a story?

It just doesn't add up.

I care equally about both because they both human beings. And unlike you, I care about fixing the problem. Your team cares about votes and keeping people dependent on government. You pretend that your side is the more moral one with unsubstantiated comments like this post so you can dismiss me arguments without addressing them. The truth is, you and the left are a bunch of phonies. You don't care about these people, otherwise you wouldn't just be throwing money at a problem when it's been demonstrated that simply throwing money at it doesn't work, but it does get you votes.

you didn't specifically say it here, but it's the basic strategy of the left to paint conservatives as uncaring, evil bigots. You constantly mention the old white man thing to discredit conservatives, you know that's true. You make bigoted statements like that all the time.

I don't know, maybe because she knows they were friends and she wants to destroy two lives? The person she put in the room also denies any knowledge of the incident as does EVERY SINGLE PERSON she named to corroborate her story, including one of her life long friends. It's adds up just fine, it just doesn't add up to what you want it to.

Did she start this planning 6 years ago in case Kavanaugh was going to be appointed? That in itself seems absurd. Also, if you want to fabricate a story, having a second person there is a recipe for failure, why do it? To ruin two lives? Come on, she just ruined her own. Mark Judge was Kavanaugh 's drinking buddy and him corroborate story would make him an accomplice. Any rational person can see this, the though of completely fabricating this entire incident makes zero sense at all.

Most senators took the cowardly route of saying they believe she was assaulted but they think it was someone else. It's all partisan and yes the Democrats were looking to weaponize this incident and hopefully win the Senate and be able to block an appointment for 2 years to steal a seat back but that doesnt mean Kavanaugh didnt lie under oath.

no, she didn't plan this 6 years ago and nobody is making that claim. Apparently, you're still under the mistaken impression she named Kavanaugh as her attacker six years ago. There's no evidence of that other than her husband saying she mentioned him during a joint therapy session - but it's not in the therapists notes. That's not the kind of detail that gets left out of notes.

It's not cowardly to believe Bret Kavanaugh didn't assault her. Nothing you've said indicates he did lie under oath - the only person we know for sure lied under oath is Blasey Ford.

It was probably a lie when he said a ?Devil?s Triangle? is a drinking game.

I?ve never heard it used to describe a drinking game. I?ve only heard of it as a threesome with two dudes and a chick.

Now dudes that age think about sex a lot. Dudes of every age really think about sex a lot but especially that age. Back when I was that age and interacting with chicks of that age it was my impression that many chicks of that age also thought about sex a lot.

Maybe he was worried that if he admitted he he made a joke with a buddy about MMF years ago some people would assume automatically he was a multi-time gang rapist, I don?t know.

Lot of jokes and talk about sex that didn't happen at that age.
