He was astoundingly popular with Tigers pitchers, and of extreme importance to Gardenhire.

The source for his comments had yet to be explained Wednesday by the Tigers. But his exit was bound to blindside and, perhaps deflate, pitchers who had come to rely on his counsel and keen ability to teach.

Neither the Tigers nor Gardenhire have yet announced a replacement for Bosio.

This was the statement issued by the Tigers:

“Effective immediately, the Detroit Tigers have terminated the contract of pitching coach Chris Bosio for his insensitive comments that violated Club policy and his Uniform Employee Contract. The organization holds all of our personnel to the highest standards of personal conduct both on and off the field. We have zero tolerance for this type of behavior. The Club will have no further comment on this matter.”

I don't think they'd fire someone for 'telling it how it is' if he was really as popular with the pitching staff as has been reported.

We all know he didn't get canned over politics or religion.
But we can all assume he was canned over comments that were either sexual or racial damaging.

Yes, very serious verbal harm / defacing does occur.
Darn social media memberships have ruined quite a few careers lately.

Will Bosio survive this and return next year as pitching coach elsewhere? I'll only put the odds of that at 61% right now. Only because of Bozzie's past history of getting in trouble over the same B.S. that comes out of his mouth.

There will be some teams that need a pitching coach in 2019 and will tell him no thanks, when he applies for their job opening.

Not sure we will ever get to the bottom of this, but if he claims he’s suing then maybe it will come out should it go to court.

I have to give the team the benefit of the doubt here. If it’s true he called Stumpf a spider monkey then there’s no way in hell thats remotely near fireable. I just have a hard time believing that’s what was said.
