Remember he was displaced by Pudge too, and was not happy. Told the media he never listened to the hitting coaches (and then hit .230) said after his DFA and accepted at Toledo, that he would play like it was a softball league.

And the mid level player parts gets me giggling.

All the above and that 'shit eating grin/smirk' after another patented check swing third strike.
I remember when one of the Detroit news sites, Mlive/freep/detnews had an online chat with Inge, so I asked him if he knew the fans called him Cringe?
He never answered, just fluff questions were answered.

I never got to the full blown hatred for Inge that some of you had. To me he was just another shitty Tiger.

People using the hate/hatred words(s) are taking it a step too far. Because we make jokes about Inge and/or are glad he's gone does not equal hate.

Let's not get carried away.

that's a big reach, the "not a happy camper" comment came from Leyland, Inge never said anything. who knows what their conversation was but I don't think any major leaguer would be happy that they signed someone to play their position, how can you really blame him for that?

as for salary compared to performance, let's talk about Fernando Vina, Troy Percival, Carlos Guillen, Maggs, and others. getting paid 5m to be a utility guy is a lot better than getting paid 15m to hit only singles (maggs) or spend the entire year on the DL (guillen).

it's just a strange obsession over Inge, get over it people.

not saying you specifically but I read a lot of nasty personal insults about him. I'm sure these people would never have the balls to say it face to face though

Well I would. Though I don't see what difference it makes. When a person becomes a professional sports athlete, or a movie/tv star they open themselves up to any and all criticism. You can't be in such a public forum and not expect to take the bad with the good, or even the bad with the terrible and mean.

Many of us lost all our sympathy for Inge long ago, and Inge himself, and his actions are the reasons.

Ive seen worse actions with much tamer reactions

You can't hate a guy you don't know, unless it some mass murderer or something. But I can hate the way he acts in big league dugout and hate the way he hits a baseball and hate the way he complains instead of just saying "whatever is best for the team".

So yeah, part of his demeanor, I hate.

Lots of speculation as to what goes on in his head

Where is all of the hatred coming from? Im not a huge inge fan but he was a mid level player who gave 100% and played everyday on two bad knees. I dont think he needs a statue in cf but he shouldnt be hated

I never understood the hate either but at the same time, I don't miss him. These days it's the Don Kelly bashing that I don't get. BTW, I thought he played some pretty good defense at the corner last night.

The Don "Freakin" Kelly stuff is because he went .186 last year. .241 after a good month doesn't change that. He might play multiple positions but he's just average, the corner last night notwithstanding.

I hate that the organization gave 10 years and countless position changes to a hack.

I never had a big problem with Santiago but his last two years have sucked. If you're going to keep Hernan P?rez up then why do we need Santiago.

It's not speculation, much of this has come from Brandon's own mouth. He also made it no secret he felt "3rd base belonged to him" both times Cabrera supplanted him.

It really is a toss up between Rugburn and Cringe in regards to my least favorite Tiger ever. They both had their moments. Inge's RBI double could have won us the division in '09 until Raburn effed up a fly ball by Cuddyer the next inning. And Raburn's walk off to sweep the Sux in '11 was pretty sweet. That was the beginning part of the winning streak that won the division. But two good hits don't make up for a combined 15 seasons that were more a heap of crap than anything else...

I know why, I just disagree. He is the 25th man who plays multiple positions fairly well. Despite his poor average, the guy has come up with some big hits for us.

The 25th man is the first guy off the bench?

I have a good idea, lets get a "multiple position" guy that is actually a very good defensive player. Not just average. If a guy hits .184 or .241 I expect that person to be a defensive gem. Not a guy he might be better than our crappy defensive starters.

Great idea. I'm sure those guys are a dime a dozen and every team has one.
