Get StartedMosley filed a grievance about the suspension. That might have something to do with the reduced sentence. it is CBA related.
There is no CBA issue.
The CBA is specific in that a player must FAIL a drug test or be arrested in possession of illegal drugs in order for the NFL to take action. This isn't college football where self-reporting is a big thing... this is labor unions, and teams aren't required to tell Uncle Roger anything.
That having been said, the NFL has a wonderful recent history of ignoring anything it doesn't find convenient, so it's possible Roger goes all Bad Santa on Mosely.
And no, the timeline wasn't altered. The Lions announced a "two week" suspension, not a "two game" suspension, and there is a clear difference. A team is only allowed to suspened two paychecks from a player for conduct detrimental, so they are not allowed to suspend for two games during a bye week, that would be three checks
NFL players get game checks. My guess is they don't get paid on their bye week.
Translation...
Fairly's out so Mosely...you are forgiven!
Translation we can't suspend you any more game checks, so why not practice and be ready Miami. Smart move. It's weed in his hotel, who cares.
The Lions cared...until Fairly got hurt. They cared until it was inconvenient.
The bye counts as game check. Two weeks worth of games
But Ink..Caldwell was quoted 2 weeks means 2 games. Nonetheless it was only 9 days.
What don't you understand when he stated "2 weeks is two games?" He didn't say "2 weeks is 2 checks."
Never saw that quote, however, Caldwell can say it's 2 years... doesn't matter
Rules specifically state that a team cannot suspend for longer than two weeks. Only the league can do that.
Caldwell can say he's doing anything he wants, he had no authority to make it two games. Same thing happened a few years back when the Eagles suspended T.O., but the arbitrator ruled they couldn't hit him for more than two paychecks.
