I would definitely prefer DeSantis over Trump any day of the week but how has he gone soft on the vaccine? He's been pro vaccine from the beginning, he is the one who fast tracked vaccine development and advocated for emergency use approval - what has changed?

I've never said anything to suggest that. I'm very clearly saying people that should not be medically exempt are claiming they should be.

You are continually pushing the mandate with zero consideration for those who should be medically exempt. In other words, those who are medically exempt need to accept their fate and take the shot even if it is against their personal choice or advisement of a doctor.

I said before that a simple solution would be to provide a Medical Exemption Card that is given by doctors only. That is a relatively higher level of Science compared to the nurses (more likely LPN than RN) who are administering the vaccine shot and then providing the Vax Card.

Instead of recognizing this as a legit argument, you said that medical exemptions is a very grey area and therefore this should not happen.

So how to you suggest that those who would die or have extreme side effects from the vaccine should be allowed into public places that are currently enforcing the vaccine mandate by asking for their vax card? People who should not take the shot are being discriminated against, when all that really is needed is a ME card with the same "power" as the V card.

If you have no potential solution to this issue and only spout about the vaccine, then you are pro mandate. This, I am guessing, is because no one in your family or circle of friends is currently restricted to these types of places due to their medical exemption. Perhaps if you were to remotely consider these individuals, you would begin to comprehend the discriminatory nature of the mandates.

For the record, I've known a few who have gotten Covid with the vaccine and a few who did not. I have known people who died from Covid too, regardless of vaccination status. I also know people who are told by doctors to get the shot, and people who doctors have been told they should not get the shot. The only true Science in all of this is Darwinism.

The vast majority who get Covid do not go to a Dr or hospital already. They stay home and basically self medicate or are asymptomatic.

Omicron is not like the other variants, it is not overrunning the hospitals or killing people to the extent earlier variants caused. The hospitals will be able to handle the influx of cases with this low level of individuals who will be in the hospitals. Well... they might want to beg all those individuals who either quit or were fired over the stupid vax mandates, they might want their help instead of losing a large % of their workforce. Talk about STUPID decisions.

go reread the posts - he clearly talked about the US helping Britain stop Hitler in Europe. He was clearly hypothesizing about what would have happened if we hadn't intervened until Hitler defeated the communists in Russia, and then was defeated by the US and Britain. By the way, Russia murdered way more Jews and others they considered undesirable than Hitler did. And that's now, forget when the vaccine first came out, no chance we could answer that question then. Rather than have state or federal governments try to make that call for us, it would be nice if we could make that decision for ourselves. But we're trying that right now and something like ten time as many people that would be a cautious estimate of how many people actually should be exempt, self-select as exempt. Some of those people (and I've already said this, but I'll say it again) are totally legit and I have tremendous sympathy for them. Especially if you talk to someone in that spot. They want a vaccine, they can't have one, they feel they are in greater danger because of how widespread the virus is, and people assume they're one of the idiots that's exacerbating the problem.

I agree that there will be a group of not only patients who will likely be listed as medically exempt when in reality they should not have been, and I will go even further and say there is a percentage of unscrupulous medical professionals who would give it to anyone asking for it without even running any tests.

None of that means we should not do it though. Take the number of people who do not need Handicap Parking, or are on the government dole when they are fully capable of working instead. There will always be people who scam any system. Hell, I can assure you there are thousands of fake Vax Cards already out there... it isn't like the damn things are hard to counterfeit and no restaurant has access to the databases that would validate the names on the cards. Yeah, you need your legal ID and that must match your vax card...again, we are not talking about a very sophisticated system to overcome.

If we are going to be concerned about the medical exemption people, then we need to be working harder at countering fake vax cards. That gets extremely messy though, because I know people who were given the copy of the vax card instead of the original, and there is no option for getting that corrected.

The entire thing is a typical government SNAFU that is heading in the direction of being FUBAR. The government cannot even provide clarity on what is considered "fully vaccinated" because the science is crossing them up. For some, they need a full 3rd shot instead of a booster dosage (which is half a shot).

At some point, society will need to just move on with true normalcy. Plenty of people take the flu shot every year, I'm confident a large percentage will get periodic Covid shots too. Everything should be done by choice in the US, even when those choices result in negative consequences.
