Coronainsanity

The obvious problem with this metric is that your comparing annual deaths to a virus thats only been significantly spreading since April (March it was more regional). Im assuming if you give covid a full year and nothing drastic changes to curb its spread or death rate we're going see these numbers drastically change?...if i was understanding your data correctly.
I based it on a per day number. For example, 647,457 die of heart disease a year, thats, 1773 a day, 1773/1100 = 1.61.
So we'd have to hit 400k deaths in a year for apples to apples.

Or the polls are bad.

They were bad in 2016.

And electronically collected and tabulated votes are... shall we say... QUITE MALLEABLE?

There's a reason no US agency ever suggests the obvious simple & secure solution to "foreign hacking" ... hand marked, paper ballots, hand-counted in public.

They're seeing the election results they want, using our very unsecure electronic voting booths.
I don't think the polls are that bad. People have a bad impression because they don't understand how far 70% is from a sure thing and Trump won.

For all the internet/facebook doctors out there. Its was 107 degrees outside here in california. Record new cases, record hospitalizations, record deaths. Got any other "fake news" about this virus for me?

Its just the flu
It will be killed in the summer
Theres no science behind wearing a mask

Anything else?...or have you been proved wrong enough to realize theres something very real thats killing 700k people yet?

makes sense. 150k in about 3 months with its spread accelerating...id say we're on pace for 600-700k.

states that had it really bad early don't seem to be getting a second wave even though they have similar restrictions as most states. I really think that the "flattening the curve" was just so hospitals didn't get overrun. I don't think anything will stop this virus until they come up with a vaccine

Most troubling of all, perhaps, was a sentiment the expert said a member of Kushner?s team expressed: that because the virus had hit blue states hardest, a national plan was unnecessary and would not make sense politically. ?The political folks believed that because it was going to be relegated to Democratic states, that they could blame those governors, and that would be an effective political strategy,? said the expert.
That logic may have swayed Kushner. ?It was very clear that Jared was ultimately the decision maker as to what [plan] was going to come out,? the expert said.
If there's any truth to the idea that the government did less than they otherwise would have for political reasons, nothing will happen, but it's the kind of thing I would consider to be treasonous in spirit even if not by the letter of the law.

Covid info changes daily... and the weekends hot spots are now new Jersey the midwest again. Basically follow the most people being dumb and it will be a hot zone 2 weeks later.

Nothing but the truth. I remember when they opened up Arizona suddenly there were large gatherings of people at pool parties, beaches (why they'd do that in the hot ass sun is beyond me) - and the state goes from mild to a big ass hot zone. Stupid people.

So it will definitely be a weapon to convince people to take the pill.
I mean, even if we run with your characterization of an ethicist, how would a university setting be any worse than a corporate setting?

Maybe this. But universities and corporations are knitted at the hip anyway, so does it matter which is advocating for our demise?

When it comes to avoiding destruction, I'll take the academic system that fails to weed out the loonies over the legal obligation to maximize profit every day of the week.

This brand of looney is not as scarce as we might think. This guy thinks he?s God. And he?s the right kind of looney. Other sorts get drummed out or never included in the circle of looneys.

Sure, but he'll never have the impact of Bezos or Gates or Zuckerberg. The academic system does a fair job of minimizing the impact of loonies. Not perfect, but relatively speaking, not the place to place my concerns.

None of the people advocating for a population reduction are volunteering themselves or their family members, present or future. Loco

Here’s a roster of sociopaths who fund this pernicious enterprise. Linkage
