I saw a headline saying we're at 1,100 covid deaths a day. Dividing the top causes of deaths by that number yields the following. Meaning heart disease is killing 11.3 times as many people (on average, over the course of the year) and flu and pneumonia are roughly equal (to the rate now - over the course of half a year covid killed 3 times as many and the flu hits seasonally, but this is the covid rate at this moment with doctors that know more about treatment and tons more mask wearing.)

Although, since 2001, it's common for the Executive Branch to just do whatever they want and claim it's because of "terrorism" since Congress has abdicated much of its power to the executive in the form of "emergency powers"... so (assuming the intelligence agencies and military go along with it), Trump COULD do this.

The latter two seem to be somewhat at odds with Trump over his reluctance to start new wars, and lip service to pulling troops out of other places... so I don't see this happening.

I don't like slippery slope rhetoric. When the word 'cancel' comes out of Trump's trash can for a mouth, fine. But he never said it. Cancel and delay are two completely different words.

Not implying it's the same thing, but he also said something about "I don't want the election results to be meaningless" or something like that. He's prepping his followers to believe he was robbed if he loses.

The obvious problem with this metric is that your comparing annual deaths to a virus thats only been significantly spreading since April (March it was more regional). Im assuming if you give covid a full year and nothing drastic changes to curb its spread or death rate we're going see these numbers drastically change?...if i was understanding your data correctly.

There's a reason no US agency ever suggests the obvious simple & secure solution to "foreign hacking" ... hand marked, paper ballots, hand-counted in public.

They're seeing the election results they want, using our very unsecure electronic voting booths.
