Dude, no one said CUT. You can still get value for him.
Here's the bottom line. He's part of the entire formula. If this team truly wants to do it the right way and start from scratch, they need to move on from Stafford. It gives him a chance near the tail end of his career to win with another program and gives the Lions potentially cap space/high draft picks to move forward. Yeah, it's not all that fair to him that he needs to go, but this thing needs to be purged, top to bottom.
How is he a second tier guy? First game good, 2nd not good, 3rd not good until garbage time, 4th game not good. Last half of last season, good against inferior competition.. I don't even consider him top 20.. And who are these teams? Good teams already have better quarterbacks. So many rookies and 2nd-3rd year players I rather have. He's dog shit.
Who's everyone's starting QB? Lol.
These QB list are stupid. I mean Stafford is in that group of dog shit you can sort out anywhere between 12-24 and probably be ok with the list, but in the end you still just have a pile of shit.
Better than Matt:
Brady
Brees
Rodgers
Roethlisberger
Wilson
Newton
Rivers
Palmer
Manning
Close to Matt, but I'd rather have the other guy
Carr
Luck
Ryan
Dalton
Flacco
Cousins
Smith
Too soon to tell, but I'd be leaning toward the other guy
Prescott
Wentz
Taylor
Winston
No thanks, I'd take Matt
Hoyer
Romo (injury proned, but is a better QB than Matt if healthy)
Osweiler
Bradford
Fitzpatrick (last year most likely. He is a better QB than Matt)
Keenum
Mariota
The two I would have trouble choosing are:
Bortles
Tannehill
They both have potential, but its hard to say.
I don't really follow the Lions much anymore, so ignore all of this if you want. But I do love this board and still visit here during the season.
Matt is frustrating because the talent is there. He has had some amazing moments leading the team to comebacks.
But he is horribly inconsistent. He makes the ones he should miss and misses the ones he should make.
Flame away, Tony.
ESPN should hire you.
Hey look at that, PFF graded him everywhere from 11th - 21st over the prior 5 years. Pretty close to what I said he was. They should hire me, I was right about him.
Ooooh...I love a good hindsight bump. These can get nasty in a hurry.
Ya a thread from right after we lose to Ten and CHI and our offense is putrid.....totally relevant now lol. Although ill say most of us thought our defense would suck this year and the defense is outperforming the offense. Not entirely sure what that says for the offense lol.
If pff says it, it must be true. The same site probably graded him poorly under Lombardi and great under cooter. Which shows they aren't actually evaluating the player rather the situation.
I absolutely despise when threads from months/years ago are bumped to "prove" a point. I didn't know that sports/life were basically static and after one event happens, you can basically assume that's the way we should all feel?
I'm not sure how old this one is, but my fire Caldwell thread got bumped recently. Basically 99 percent of the board felt the same, and it was by the grace of god that the team picked themselves up and managed to make this a very good season. The team was 1-3, lifeless, and just lost to the worst team in football. Stuff changes.
In all my Stafford bashing throughout the years, I always included the fact that it was frustrating because I know the guy is talented but he just hasn't put it together yet. Finally he has, and it's really a good thing to see. I'm happy for the dude.
