This board, myself included, has given this guy hell all year.

If we win the division, this series will be a BIG reason why. Time to give Delmon some love for his performance these last 3 days.

5 for 10
3 R
1 1B
1 2B
1 3B
2 HR
7 RBI

In the biggest series of the year so far.

Thanks DY!!!

Yes Delmon swung at a bad pitch and managed to hit it out. It doesn't make him good. What gets forgotten is that Delmon Young is a -0.1 WAR and is barely replacement level. Perhaps with someone who is slightly above replacement, the Tigers wouldn't have entered this series 3 games behind. It's really a moot point as Young should be gone when Martinez returns next year.

Wrong!!! Delmon is Delmon!!! Last year the Twins got tired of his game... He is a FREE SWINGER... In the second half last year, he was great for us. Not so great for the Twins in the first half... This year, not so good for us in the first half, pretty good for the second half... He's been a monster the last couple of weeks... He was a MONSTER versus the Yanks in the first round of the playoffs, I think 3 hr's... With him healthy and Bosch there last year, we might have beat Texas...
I live in DFW, they are not the same team! This is our year! They have no stud pitcher... CJ is in Cali, CLewis is out for the year... Colby was huge for them the past two years in the postseason... Make no mistake, we have a #1, #2, and a #3 if Fister can get healthy... I wouldn't want to face Justin, Max, and then Doug in a 5 game series...

Where does he play when Victor comes back next year? Do you want him in left field ? I am not sure... Glad he finally is hitting though..

Don't care about next year... Let's just ride the Delmon train... Who knows where this is going... Would we want to sign him to a big contract, hell no... But he is definitely doing his job for now... Hopefully he'll continue for the playoffs, like last year...

Ummmm...where oh where is Brandon Inge. Inge > Delmon Young. Scherzer and Verlander had a bigger role in the Tigers winning the series. I am not going to ignore 120 games just because of the last 3.

Scherzer and JV definately were the main part in THEIR game, but Delmon did have a big hand in ALL 3 games.

Also, Delmon has been pretty good since a week before the all star break. Saying 3 games is laughable. I'm sure you can find some expanded stats that are bad, but hitting .295/.335/.536/.871 with 11 HR since July 5(48 games) is pretty damn good. Team has a 30-18 record in those games.

And I can go back through the years and show stretches where Brandon Inge was "pretty damn good" for stretches. Yes, Delmon is having a hot stretch, but as a whole, Young sucks. Period.

Yeah, I'm happy that he is hitting the ball now, just like I will be if Raburn comes back and rakes, but it doesn't change my feelings towards him. Hopefully he continues the hit the ball because we definitely need him to. It shows how big if a difference it makes in our lineup when a player can be a little above average instead of far below average.

And DY should have more than 61 RBI this year batting behind Miggy and Prince.

In booger's defense he says let's give Delmoose props for the last three days. Nothing about him being great overall. And he's right he had a great series and it could be a big turning point for the club down the stretch; kudos to him.

Come on now, in 12 seasons Inge has only hit over .250 3 times(8 seasons .230 or under) and had an OPS over .750 twice(7 seasons under .700).

DY's career average is .286 and .748 OPS. Inge .234 and .690

Delmon wins that debate and it's not even close.

The 2 RBI machines ahead of him might have something to do with that. He's 3rd on the team, which is right where you'd expect him to be.

Jesus FUCKING Christ thank you elrod.....you seem to be the only one who got my point.

My only point was that Delmon had a great series. NOWHERE in my post did I mention that I want him signed long term, that he has been great all year or that he hasn't cost us games.

READ THIS AGAIN PEOPLE......DY had a great series. I'm gonna give him some love because he showed up BIG when it counted.

That's it.

Fuck, you say one thing about a guy having a good series and it turns into "Im not gonna ignore 120 games because of the last 3".....good for you dipshit........nobody asked you to. You can agree or disagree that he had a HUGE series, but for fucks sake a little reading comprehension would do you some good.

I knew what you meant, I was just responding to the Brandon Inge is a better hitter than Delmon nonsense.

Delmon is garbage, and his hot streak just shines more light on how bad he had been the rest of the season.

I for one am not going to be fooled into believing in Delmon all of a sudden, and forgetting about the other 120 games, he did this last year, and fooled all the Tigers fans into thinking he was a great pickup.

And I didn't see Rebbiv say Inge was a better hitter. He said Inge > Young, and factoring in all aspects of the game, I'd agree.

He said Inge had good stretches which is true. Inge hit .268/.360/.515/ .876 in the first half on 2009 with 21 HR in 85 games.

Where was anything BUT hitting mentioned from the OP til his post???? If that's the case, I happen to know that Delmon is a waaaaay better gardener than Inge. Keep on trolling...

I don't think anyone is fooled.

Factoring in defense, Inge wins.
