denard - twentyman has lost his mind

Let me set the record straight. I wouldn't draft him before the 4th rd. I'm just defending that he could end up a nice wide out for a team that can be patient and develop him.

Guys like him have a place in the NFL but they aren't every down type players. He will probably be drafted by a good team that has the luxury of drafting a specialized player. Look for a team that is willing to think outside the box offensively to draft him kind of late....a team like the 49ers, Pats or even the Eagles to draft him. The Lions can't afford to draft a limited guy like Denard.

I think he could turn into a 3 down receiver but I agree that only certain teams should have the luxury of picking him.

As a wr I think he is more suited for the slot, which means he is not likely an every down receiver.

Definitely see him as a speed back. If he was better at wr then um would have played him there just like they did with Gardner.

Jennings leaves. Cobb replaces Jennings. Denard fills Cobbs role.

I'd be happy with that.

As the number 2? Not a chance, though I wish it'd happen to - it benefits the Lions.

And catching balls in practice, which is what it was for Denard is a whole lot different than catching in traffic. He probably does have a niche, occasional screen pass or KR/PR. And that's not worth anywhere near a 4th round pick. If you want a guy with speed to use as a WR, draft a WR. Plenty of fast guys out there.

What do you think would have happened if hoke moved denard in his first season there? It worked out pretty well for them too. When denard hurt his arm it made more sense to move him to running back than receiver because there wasn't much of a learning curve for the guy. Make sense?

How many guys do you see in the NFL, that were a good college player in a different position, and make good as a RB. I don't know for sure but if I had to guess I'd say zero.

Cobb was a Qb/wr. Tannehil was a Wr/Qb. Hester was a Cb. Randle el was a Qb. The App State Qb. Penn State Qb M Robinson. Brad Smith for the jets?

If by #2 you mean after jordy jones Cobb and Finley. Then Yea.

Are they RB now? I was referring to the question of him becoming a RB. And even as a WR, the list is short.

You said "Jennings leaves. Cobb replaces Jennings. Denard fills Cobbs role." I don't follow the GB wide receiver core so assumed Cobb was the 2 replacing the one and Denard would then be the 2. My bad.

we'd use him the same way we used logan. If youre the lions you dont touch him prior to the 6th round cause logans role was very limited. He could go as high as the 4th round to a team that doesnt have as many other holes as us and our in desperate need for a speed guy to make plays.

I don't understand the "a team that can be patient" theory. Why would NE want him anymore than the Browns? If you want a RB / WR who can one day play RB / WR, draft a RB / WR.

Some of you seem to think he's special. There are guys all over who have speed, draft one of them. One that actually played RB/WR before.

have to agree with this. hes a kick returner going into a league where theres little or no value in having a kick returner anymore cause if youre any good they will just kick the ball through the endzone. I also think people are over estimating his speed. Sure hes lightning fast....so is everyone else in the NFL. speed doesnt always translate to the nfl....epecially when i think he runs too upright. He gets hit like ridley did and his frikken head might pop right off. If most of the gms see him walking out of the game injured as much as he does....im guessing they might just take him off their boards completely.

And I don't think you can change that, start running low for example. You better be a tank if you run upright.

His draft value died with al Davis. Who cares how fast he is if he can't get off the line against press coverage.

I wouldn't waste a draft pick on him period. Sorry, but it's true. I love the kid, but he's an enigma. Why waste a draft pick on an enigma? The guy has been tabbed as a mutt, he has no set position and NOBODY knows what to do with him.

Saying that, the Lions take him in the 6th...lol

I think its possible for a team to use him but you cant draft him before the 5th or 6th round. I have trouble seeing him a true wr or even a slot wr but as a guy you can use out of the backfield I think he may have value. Very few players coming out of college have the running ability and vision that he had. Yes there are fast players in the NFL but thats not all he has going for him. He has cutting ability and the ability to see the lanes better than a majority of backs. In this regard he has value.
