denard - twentyman has lost his mind

I think it's interesting how the people who I feel have the best grasp of what Denard is and what he'll become are the people who are usually homers about this type of stuff. Just something about the kid that makes you take off the rose colored glasses and say ummm, thanks but no thanks.

I'm a Spartan fan but would love to have Robinson as a Lion. No way in hell I would even consider drafting him before the 5th....but if he were still there in the 5th I'd take him.

He doesn't have a position, true.

However....he's a good kid....seems smart....and has the athletic ability that only a handful of people, even in the NFL, seem to have.

Again, I'd rather have him as our gunner and 5th receiver than Kasim Osgood....especially if that #5 guy needs to see the field on offense.

I think he'd find an IMMEDIATE role as our KR/PR and 3rd down back. Who would you rather see catching a dump down in the open field....Joique Bell or Denard Robinson?

idk about robinson seeming smart..but he is one hell of an athlete..i wouldn't mind him for a 4th rounder at most..if we get one somehow

Osgood is one hell of a STs player though.

I don't want him. Unless its as an undrafted free agent. No more wasted picks on a guy who might be able to play.

funny you mentioned it but I think were getting a 4th rd compensatory pick for eric wright since he played so much at TB.

So now we can give the 4th rounder up that we earned by drafting a guy no one knows if he can play? Stay away Denard..

I love him but if we do get a 4th comp I don't want to take him there. There's too many holes.

Agreed, but this team needs more than special teams specialists. Osgood is great if your other 4 receivers are good NFL caliber talent.....we don't have that.

I would rather have a guy that could be a weapon in some other capacity. Is Shoelace every going to be an every down player in the NFL....almost certainly not....but he could have MULTIPLE small roles on a team. 3rd down back.....KR/PR.....even a ST gunner.

Osgood has ONE. He is a good ST gunner.

I'm not saying the Lions should use anything other than a 6th or 7th on him.....but if he's still there....I would have NO problems with that pick.

Almost EVERY 6th or 7th round pick is a guy who "MIGHT" be able to play.....otherwise they would be 1st-5th rounders.

There aren't very many 6th and 7th rounders that even make teams.....there are even fewer players that significantly contribute....if we are expecting starters in the later rounds this team is in more trouble than anyone thinks.

idk maybe it's just me..but i think denard could be better than people think if used correctly..i don't think he should be running routes deep down the field..i think you just get the ball in his hands ala percy harvin..remember..in college..every team we faced gameplanned against just him...in the pro's..he would just be an option..and i like the thought of him 1 on 1 with a majority of players...

Agreed 100%. How many time did Joique Bell catch a ball on a dump down with nobody around him for 10 yards and make a 7 yard gain.

A LOT

Who would you rather see getting that ball.....Bell or Shoelace?

Screens
Draws
Reverse with an option to pass it deep to CJ
Kick Returns

I'd rather see Denard with the ball in his hands on any of those touches than anyone else on our current roster.

I was referring to the 4th round possible pick. But you don't read what people write and just start in on your own rant.

But you would still be upset if we took him in the 5th-7th?

Maybe a 7th round. And its not that I'd be upset with him as a 6-7 pick but just knowing he's a fake punt guy and that's it. But as all Lions draftee's, if we do select him I'd be rooting for him..

id rather take a punter in the 5th before denard. Hed be worth a flyer in the 6th or 7th.
