Detroit 113 Orlando 109 Final

Orlando all five starters in double figures.
Pistons four of the five in doubles (Bey had 8)
Duren made up for it with 14.

Gotta clean up those last Possessions down the stretch though.

Threes
Pistons 14 for 38 (36.8%)
Magic 11 for 30 ( 36.7%)

Pistons started 0-8

Bogie, Duren, Ivey were all fantastic.

Cade needs to get rolling soon if he's going to handle the ball and take as many shots as he has been.

Casey is fucking terrible. 1st quarter was a replay of most games last season. Poor shooting --->Guards switching on defense too often leading to foul trouble---->15 point defecit after 8 minutes. Glad they could recover and pull out a win, even if it was against a bad Orlando team.

I said this in another Pistons thread, I think Duren can be Ben Wallace but WITH an offensive game.

Comparing anybody to Ben is going to get premature. Duren has a ton of potential, but obviously he's got a long way to go defensively (as most young bigs do).

I was, ultimately, more positive about Cade's game after it. He was actually shooting well through three quarters. But then he missed his last 6 (5 if you take out the shooting foul). And there was a lot of bad offense in the 4th. Some of this is surely him (he started forcing shots he didn't need to), and some of this is the coaching (what IS the plan other than just relying on our talented players?). And throughout the game, it was clear he wanted to get everyone else involved. He was playing more like Chris Paul than Luka Doncic. Luka is more fun, but a 20 pt 10 ast guy is still a star (though he absolutely needs to improve the efficiency).

What a steal Bojan is. And I don't even mean leading the team in scoring. That's unlikely to be the case often. But he created so much space! He confidently takes 10 threes, hits six. Teams know he has to be guarded. And he's not a ball stopper, even though he's clearly being used as a play finisher. He's exactly the kind of cog that makes good teams flow.

I hear ya. He just has that similar physical look (even though Duren is only 18), he has that similar quick jump ability, he has long ass arms.

I know I am very premature, but this kid really excites me. He will be a double double machine.

Im out in Cali and the game was on some weird channel that had the Orlando broadcast team....they said Duren reminded them of Rasheed. Duren doesnt have that outside shot like Sheed' had...but then again Sheed developed that later in his career.

Was a fun game to watch...i like Ivey alot. Alot of rotation at the PG spot makes the flow a little weird....may just be a thing they try out early in the season until they get a good feel for the rotation they want.

First time im commenting on the pistons board in years...so theyve got me interested to say the least!

The biggest surprise about Duren was how strong he is at 18. He didn't appear to be overwhelmed. Usually when an 18 year old big enters the NBA they look like a baby deer out there. Duren looked like he belonged. Will be exciting to watch his game develop.
