They beat the Card-Pitts, a wartime merger of the Cardinals & Steelers: nicknamed the "carpets," they went winless that year.

November 16, 1952: Bobby Layne scores a touchdown run & throws a touchdown pass, a 65-yard strike to Cloyce Box, in a 43-13 win over the Dallas Texans at Briggs (Tiger) Stadium. The Lions would go on to win the NFL championship.

November 16, 1941 Byron "Whizzer"White scores 2 touchdowns for the Lions, including a 71-yard reception, in a 21-17 win over the Eagles at Briggs (Tiger) Stadium.
White was later appointed as a Supreme Court justice by President Kennedy. He was succeeded by Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
