How severe the ankle injury is has not been clarified. If it’s minor, he may miss only some preseason games. If it is a “High Ankle” sprain, he may not be ready until after few games into the regular season.

Eric Ebron (ankle) was walking without a cast or boot on the sidelines of practice Monday.
Originally reported as an Achilles' injury, Ebron is actually dealing with an ankle issue. He did not practice and was walking with a "slight limp," but the lack of boot or cast is a great sign. Although the injury appeared to be season-ending when it first happened, it now looks like Ebron might not even miss a regular season game. His status will continue to be updated throughout the week.

TJ Jones and Andre Caldwell both also missed practice for the Lions at WR. OL Cornelius Lucas also sat out.

Veteran wide receiver and ex-Lion Lance Moore has retired, three days after signing as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons.

With Eric Ebron out, the Lions had Matthew Mulligan and Cole Wick taking No. 1 reps at TE.
The Lions have their top three TEs out for now: Ebron, Brandon Pettigrew and Tim Wright. Pettigrew is on PUP. Wright is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Lions HC Jim Caldwell won't say anything about Eric Ebron and his injury. Won't say anything about TJ Jones' injury.
Jim Caldwell had no interest in discussing Eric Ebron's injury. He will sometimes say whether an injury is long-term or not. Wouldn't say anything on that today.
