Stafford to receive Ed Block Courage Award.

The Lions have taken their Ed Block Courage Award -- which typically goes to a player coming back from injury -- and given it to Stafford for his ability to play through injury.
The Lions will honor Stafford and former offensive lineman Lomas Brown will receive the Ricky Sandoval Award, as winner for his contributions in the community, at a Nov. 15 banquet at Ford Field.

Lions OC Jim Bob Cooter said Golden Tate will remain a focal point of Detroit's offense even as the team starts to get more players back on offense.

COOTER-STAFFORD PAIRING IS HERE TO STAY.
At least for the next few years, Jim Bob Cooter should remain Matthew Stafford's playcaller, even if Jim Caldwell gets replaced as the Lions' head coach, Chris Mortensen notes.

Mort & Schefter's Week 8 notebook. Lions won't break up the Stafford-Cooter relationship.

Marvin Jones returns to Lions practice and Eric Ebron, Theo Riddick, Haloti Ngata and Dwayne Washington all practice for second straight day. Lions had four players missing open portion of Thursday's practice: RT Riley Reiff, OL Corey Robinson, LB DeAndre Levy and CB Darius Slay.

Marvin Jones and his wife, Jazmyn, had a baby girl yesterday: Mays Love Jones. Mom and Maya are healthy. She entered the world at 2 pm yesterday at 6 pounds, 11 ounces and 19 inches long.

LEAGUE INSIDERS LIKE TEXANS OVER LIONS.
Houston's offense has struggled, but three personnel men polled by Mike Sando think Detroit's D should be the ideal antidote. The Texans' pass rush could also get to Matthew Stafford.

Lions reportedly planning to keep Jim Bob Cooter around regardless of head coach.
Regardless of what happens at head coach, the Lions reportedly want their offensive coordinator around.
Earlier in the season, when Jim Caldwell?s seat was a little bit hotter, many fans were worried that offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter would be lost if Caldwell was fired. However, according to a report of Chris Mortensen, that won?t be the case.
Talk of Jim Caldwell being replaced as head coach has quieted since the team has put together a three-game winning streak, but even if he is, most league executives believe Lions general manager Bob Quinn probably would consider Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia over Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniel as the replacement. There is no rush to break up the Stafford and Cooter partnership.
