Detroit Lions - Team Notes

Jim Caldwell said Darius Slay is still in return-to-play protocol. Dealing with a hamstring injury and was limited yesterday.

Jim Caldwell wouldn't rule out RB Ameer Abdullah returning this season from IR.
That said, LB Jon Bostic has appeared closer to getting back and was spotted running on the side Wednesday. He would, in my opinion, be the far more likely candidate to return.

Lions DC Teryl Austin hints Jon Bostic will be coming back this year.
Said "we'll have to see" what he can do" when he returns. He's on IR with a foot injury.

Lions DC Teryl Austin said the sacks will come for DE Ezekiel Ansah, who has yet to get one this year. Believes he's been forcing pressure.

Lions DC Teryl Austin said he likes having a tall corner like Johnthan Banks, but the terminology is what is going to take time for him to pick up.

Asked Lions DC Teryl Austin if they had been missing a big corner this year. His response: "What we were missing is some good play."

Jim Bob Cooter said "ideally" the Lions would have good balance but that doesn't mean 50-50. Said he doesn't want to be drastically one way or the other run or pass.

What the Lions will be doing for their Salute to Service week: "The Lions will honor more than 150 active military and veterans at their STS game on Sunday, Nov. 20.
Active military and veterans will welcome players to the field and hold the American flag on the field during the National Anthem, which will be performed by a National Guard Air Force member.
Continuing the Lions Hometown Heroes tradition, one member of each military branch will be honored throughout the game. Various thank you messages from active and retired Lions players will be displayed on the video board throughout the game.
During their Salute to Service week, Lions players will host active duty military members at Ford Field for a competitive Madden tournament with the non-profit organization, Pros vs. GI Joes.
Lions players, cheerleaders, and mascot Roary will pay a visit to Selfridge Air National Guard base to host a Lions pep rally for active duty military members and their families."

Riley Reiff (illness), DeAndre Levy (knee) and Adairius Barnes all not at open part of Lions practice. Darius Slay practiced for the second straight day.

EVALUATORS' SPLIT ON LIONS VS. VIKINGS.
Two weeks ago, this game would have looked easier to predict, but three league insiders polled by Mike Sando had some uncertainty. Two took the Vikings, but concerns about their O-line persist.
