Detroit Lions - Team Notes

Jim Caldwell said they view Johnthan Banks as a corner but he just got here and they are still figuring things out with him.

TAKE THE LIONS, AND THE POINTS?
On the heels of a surprise Monday night loss in Chicago by the Vikings, can the Lions send Minnesota stumbling further? Two of our Insiders think so.
Insider roundtable.

Jim Caldwell: Matt Prater "worth his weight in gold for us."

Jim Caldwell believes Ezekiel Ansah "will get there" when it comes to sacks. Says he's made a lot of assists now and is getting a lot of attention. He has yet to record a sack this season.

The departure of Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner won't affect the Lions' preparations for Sunday's game at Minnesota.
Mike Zimmer on Norv Turner's resignation: Said there was nothing that hinted at this in the past few days and that he was very surprised. Said he doesn't think the offense will change much right away.

DeAndre Levy and Riley Reiff the only Lions players I saw not at open portion of practice Wednesday. Darius Slay returned to practice. Brandon Pettigrew and Jon Bostic were at practice working off to the side running. Still on PUP and IR, respectively.

LIONS' PLAYOFF HOPES ARE DWINDLING FAST.
As Aaron Schatz notes, the Lions' performance this year reflects poorly in Football Outsiders' model, leaving their playoff chances under 14 percent. FPI is even less optimistic.
