Detroit Lions - Team Notes

A little surprised we've heard so little on the #Lions' own free agents. Only players brought back so far are Ansah, Hyder and Muhlbach.
Obviously it's still very early.

As Ty Schalter and Chris Burke NFL discussed, Whitehead, Lawson, Hayden, Wilson Each make sense to bring back in a vacuum, but as a unit the Lions D wasn't nearly good enough. Can't just bring 'em all back.

Detroit and Tampa Bay are among teams interested in free-agent defensive tackle Beau Allen, who just won a Super Bowl with Philadelphia.
327-pound run stuffing DT who would fit he NT profile the Lions are missing on the roster.

As the NFL's negotiating period has officially begun, the following Detroit Lions players can have their representatives start negotiating contracts for their clients: RB Mike James, TE Darren Fells, OL Greg Robinson, OC Travis Swanson, OL Don Barclay, DE Dwight Freeney, DT Haloti Ngata, DT Jordan Hill, LB Tahir Whitehead,
LB Paul Worrilow, LB Nick Bellore, CB Nevin Lawson, CB D.J. Hayden, SS Tavon Wilson, S Don Carey.
Restricted free agents are: DE/LB Brandon Copeland, WR TJ Jones, RB Zach Zenner and OL Zac Kerin.
Detroit has already franchise-tagged DE Ezekiel Ansah and re-signed long-snapper Don Muhlbach.
