Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

Tigers have indeed called up Rondon. Put Dotel on DL. Rondon not coming up as closer, although could get some closing chances.

The Tigers place Octavio Dotel on the 15-day DL (retroactive to Sat.), and call up Bruce Rondon from Triple-A Toledo.

This was only a move to make room for Valverde in Toledo?

excellent role for Tigers Rondon - an inning here or there in close games, but with Benoit still in save situations - Dotel on DL.

In 7 games for Toledo, Rondon didn't allow a run. 7 2/3 innings, 5 hits, 2 walks, 9 strikeouts. all 5 hits singles, 1 of them a bunt single by Billy Hamilton (aka shouldn't even count.

Dotel placed on DL, Rondon promoted.
from JasonBeck'sTigersblog

Dotel has pitched Friday against the Angels, so the DL move was made retroactive to last Saturday. He?ll be eligible to come off the DL on May 5, the last day of a four-game series in Houston. If Rondon is overpowering big-league hitters when Dotel is ready to return, the Tigers will have a decision to make whether Rondon is ready to stick in the Majors.

Called up Bruce Rondon (RHP) from Toledo

Placed Octavio Dotel (RHP) on 15-day disabled list (elbow inflammation), retroactive to 4/20

Analysis:
After 7 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball, the Tigers have done arguably what they should have done 4 weeks ago and placed Rondon in the big league bullpen in a middle relief. Rondon was very good again against Triple-A competition, allowing just five singles (one of which a bunt single from Billy Hamilton), with nine strikeouts and just two walks. Some additional development is still needed on his secondary pitches and with his control, but he’ll be best serve to make that growth in Detroit against big league competition.

Dotel clearly hadn’t been right for a little while now, and getting him some extended rest will be beneficial to all parties

Tigers recalled RHP Bruce Rondon from Triple-A Toledo.
He'll take the place of Octavio Dotel, who was placed on the disabled list with right elbow inflammation. Rondon failed to win a bullpen spot out of spring training, but he began his season with 9/2 K/BB ratio over 7 2/3 scoreless frames at the Triple-A level. The hard-throwing rookie is unlikely to close right away, but he could wind up getting some save chances.

Leyland said he'll try to mix in Rondon in 6th inning or so starting out. No plans to close with him.

Plan w/ Dotel is to let him rest few days, start w/ catch here, then go out for rehab. "See if we can get rid of it, once and for all," JL.

Porcello will be skipped again in early May, when Tigers have two off days around two-game series.
