Tigers make it 9 straight wins over Indians with 9-6 win. Scherzer gets 15th win, Valverde 48th save, and Tigers pound out 9 XB hits.

Tigers jumped out to 3-0 lead in first on Ordonez 2-run, 2-out single...Betemit - in first game in 10 days - HR'd in 2nd to make it 4-0.

Tigers built lead to 8-2 on Young 2-run HR, and RBI doubles from Ordonez and Raburn...but Indians kept chipping away.

Indians made it 8-4, then Cabrera hit 30th HR, 4th in 5 games, to make it 9-4. Indians cut it to 9-6, but Benoit and Valverde closed it out.

Miguel Cabrera now has 49H in last 110AB, with 7HR and 24RBI.
Ordonez had 3RBI and extended hit streak to 18G,
Young had 3rd HR of homestand, 3RBI.

Scherzer K'd 7, went 5.2IP and gave up 4ER...Benoit K'd side in 8th - splitter was nasty.....Benoit since Aug. 3rd: 22IP, 5H, 0R, 7BB/28K.

If Rangers win tonight...Tigers will need to win tomorrow. and hope Angels can beat Rangers. If that happens,Tigers are home for Game 1 Friday.
A Tigers loss or Rangers win tomorrow (again, if Rangers win tonight), means Tigers start on the road in New York.
