Tigers lose finale in NY, 6-2. Sabathia just too much, and Scherzer - who got squeezed early - struggled w/ command, walking career high 7.

Key moments early: Scherzer made excellent pitches to Jeter and A-Rod in 1st...but didn't get call. Thought he'd K'd Jeter in 2nd, didnt get call.

Instead of inning being over, Jeter reached on IF single...bases loaded walk to Granderson, IF single for A-Rod made it 2-0 NY.

Scherzer was simply wild after 2nd, but the calls & pitch count thru 2IP (58) seemed to take a toll. 7BB was 2 more than prev. most of 5BB.

Tigers stuck around all day - Yankees stranded 14 baserunners thru 6 innings...but led only 3-2 going to 7th. Then 2R off Putkonen in 7th put game away.

Few highlights for Tigers: Fielder hit first HR since game 3, off Sabathia in 4th, Cabrera RBI double in 6th gives him 20RBI in 22 Games.

Putkonen made ML debut - inherited bases loaded jam in 5th, got Granderson on GB. Then worked out of another bases loaded jam in 6th.

Tigers fall out of first, have lost 8 of 10 to fall back to .500 at 11-11. Now go home for 6 Games with KansasCity and Chicago....
