Detroit recalled C Omir Santos from Triple-A Toledo for the fourth time. The Tigers also were planning to call up INF Danny Worth, according to a Toledo spokesman. ... The Tigers arrived at their Cleveland hotel around 2 a.m. after an 18-2 win over the White Sox on Sunday night. Leyland said he will try to rest some Tigers when they play another day game Wednesday against the Indians. ... Tigers OF Brennan Boesch is out for the season with a torn ligament in his right thumb. He could have surgery this week at Cleveland Clinic, by noted specialist Dr. Thomas Graham.

Fister is 4-1 with a 2.64 ERA in seven starts since joining the Tigers. He has struck out 36 and walked three in 44 1/3 innings since the trade, and Detroit is 5-2 in games he has started.

Fister, who always works fast, came through. He threw 101 pitches -- 72 for strikes -- in eight innings of work in a game that took 2 hours, 34 minutes.

According to research from Elias Sports Bureau, no American League pitcher had struck out 13 batters and lasted eight innings with fewer than 102 pitches since at least 2000, when it started keeping pitch-count data with every game.
