Could Michael Young be the answer for the Tigers at third base next season? The Texas Rangers should probably hold on to him, considering how he filled in while Adrian Beltre was hurt. But he's owed $16 million in both 2012 and 2013, and if everyone stays healthy, there's really not a place for him.

That's a lot of money for the Tigers to take on. Would the Rangers eat some of it to move Young? If not, maybe Detroit would have to give up less in a trade. Matt Klassen argues that Young could help Detroit at third, second base, DH, and maybe even left field. This season, Young has a slash average of .336/.378/.485 with 11 home runs and 90 RBIs.

As ESPN's Buster Olney writes, Martinez is a big reason that Jose Valverde has been so effective against right-handed hitters (.177 average, .490 OPS) this season. After their first spring training workout, Martinez encouraged Valverde to keep using a two-seam fastball that broke in on righties and stayed down in the strike zone.
