Do you want Leyland back to manage the Tigers in 2013?

1. Yes?

2. No?

3. Give him up to the 2013 All-Star Break.

reasons pro or con.

I imagine more than 3/4 of the MLB fan bases out there are wanting their managers gone, too, and some of them are saying "what about Leyland?"

no. the game has passed him by. he cant manage the bullpen for shit, makes retarded lineup and in game decisions, and his buddy coaches suck. this would be more tolerable if he wasnt also becoming increasingly hostile and snippy with fans and the media. this is the age of he internet and social media. if he cant take fans second guessing his decisions and lineups (especially when he makes retarded decisions like playing kelly, continuing to play boesch, etc deserve being second guessed) then he needs to retire. EVERY manager in baseball is dealing with that now, some of them even go on the internet and interact with fans.

tl;dr- leyland needs to get with the times or GTFO, preferably the latter imo.

I said yes. I don't always agree with him, but it's hard to say fire him when I would have no idea who his replacement would be. And I honestly love that he doesn't give a crap about the media or what the fans think about his lineups, etc.

Yes, because in spite of all the shit he gets it could be much worse.

id like to make the distinction that we would not be firing him, we would just not offer him an extension. hes not on contract for next year. part of me thinks hes planning on retiring anyways.

I say no. Sometimes a manager needs to go even if the struggles are not directly related to how the team plays. With that said, he makes too many mistakes.

No... Bye, Bye Smokey!!! Now go win the World Series and slam it in our faces!!!!

Should have made an option for don't care either way.

He's infuriating at times, but no more then any other manager would be if we were playing the same way.

And to the people who think we couldn't do any worse, yes we could, way worse.

So that's the reason you keep him?

yes. many laugh at the Trammel years, but if Trammel had this roster, he could do better with it. imo

I voted yes. There is a good chance that the next guy will do a worse job than Leyland. I'm sure some of the people that voted no would have wanted to replace Leyland with Bobby Valentine last year.

I said no with a replacement. Give me Francona. If he held that Boston team that well after seeing what they are now, he is the guy to take this team to the World Series and win it.

Depends on who we could get but if it's him or promoting a coach from within the sytem/ getting an inexperienced guy to take the helm I could roll with LEyland another year. Also depends on length of contract.

Do the players respect and want to play for manager X? Ultimately, it is up to the players to perform or not perform.

I believe Leyland has the respect and want to play for Leyland. I do believe his coaching staff is the Achilles heel.

There are very few "available" managers that I would want over Leyland. Kirk Gibson comes to mind.

I feel the same way. Sure his line ups are questionable at times but I don't htink it's ultimately costed the Tigers World Series titles or even playoff wins.

You don't bat a .179 hitter, just recently called up (he was sent down because he sucked) and bat him 6. Don't start telling who else we have. Regardless of the struggles with Peralta, Avila etc, they're all better options.

And more important, Prince hasn't missed a game in 3 years, a handful his entire career so what makes Leyland thinks he needs a rest on defense? Now? And replace him with a .179 hitter.

So that's the criteria. He must be good because he hasn't cost us WS titles or playoff wins? Lol.
