Double tiebreaker for division titles

I don't like the 1 game playoff but I'm so glad the Cubs lost and their turncoat Manager who bolted to a stacked team.

Maddon had a clause in his contract that stated if Andrew Friedman (GM) left, he could opt out in a 2-week period, and he did. How does that make him a turncoat? The Cubs then pursued him, not the other way around.

No manager just leaves because you don't know another job is going to be there. But I heard Madden say it was about money not that the GM left. I just hated what he did and the former Cubs manager, only 1 year - got hosed. He could have got to and won a WS too.

NL

Atlanta Don’t care.
Colorado don’t care
Milwaukee don’t care
LA. Hate

AL has
Oakland. Don’t care
New York. hATE
Houston don’t care
Cleveland hate
Boston hATE

I have a few teams I can root for. Plus homers . Root for homers .

I want one of Rockies, Brewers, or Indians to win the WS, since each either hasn't won, or hasn't in 70 years. I don't want the Dodgers, Red Sox or Yankees to even play in the WS.....Big market franchises and ESPN darlings who most often outspend the rest. The Braves, A's, and Astros are acceptable alternatives, although I never root for repeats other than Detroit's pro-sports franchises. The Tigers were not exactly beat out by the Tribe for the postseason, so I have no axe to grind against them again this year. It is truly nauseating to read and watch ESPN fawn over certain sports franchises year after year.

Now ESPN's scribes are trying to figure out how the Redskins, Rams or Vikings could shoehorn disgruntled Steelers RB Bell onto their rosters....this despite each having very good, if not elite rushers like Gurley and Peterson,

Fun fact about the Cubs:

1961 they had 8 managers..

First guy was 5-6
2nd guy 4-8
5-12
2-0
3-1
0-3
35-43
5-6

Himsi 3 times & Klein 2. Very odd. Klein was the 2nd manager in '62 also managed in '65. The Billy Martin of hires and fires and hires..

Pinch-managers...what a novel concept.

Almost tops opening games with RPs.

How did you feel when Les Moss got dumped in favor of Sparky Anderson as manager of a Tigers team comprised largely of players who he managed in the minors?

Thank god the Cubs lost. Among the most annoying fanbases in sports. Hope Cole Hamels doesn’t mind losing the division and watching from his couch as his non rivals have the best record in the NL

Brewers are my NL team so rooting heavily for them
I like the Braves and Rockies as well, wouldn’t be mad if either won it all
I can’t stand the Dodgers

I like Houston
Don’t mind the A’s, I like their story
Can’t stand Cleveland
Despise the Red Sox but I like JD and would like to see him win a title at some point
Hate the Yankees with the fire of 1000 suns

So, the best team in the NL and the one that should have been top-seeded in any other sport but baseball, was just eliminated in a 1-game play in game. Does that make sense to anyone else?

1. CHC had a better divisional record than MIL.
2. LAD had a better divisional record than COL.
3. If you are still doing a 1-game play in, that it should have COL at MIL.

Baseball is a different sport than the rest. They have a one-game playoff to determine the division winner if there is a tie. If the Cubs were the best team in the NL, they should have won their own division.

I love it...send those assholes home. :lmao:

Different mindset I was only 13.

The Cubs and White Sox can go another century w/o a WS championship, AFAIAC.

I think it works best this way in baseball. They play so many times within' your division - division record should matter none.

Dude you started this thread!

So... you started a thread about teams you either hate or don?t care about?

Yup.. Playoff baseball. Someone had to start the thread. The game was close .oh and I really only like my Detroit teams outside of those it is hard to get excited for another team sadly. Some players are fun to root for like Brady . I can do that can?t I ?

Nope .. I hate this about baseball. I agree with you . I good record should count for something over a long season not that you are banged up and not hitting like before the all star break. I do think it is pretty funny that the Cubs have lost two games at home .
So much for home field advantage.

I will probably root for .. or I should say my order.

Houston.. Jv.
Oakland
Milwaukee
Colorado
Atlanta
Cleveland
LA
Boston
New York

Either New York or Oakland is going to be gone at the end of the day today.

Ever since the wildcard expanded it to two games I haven?t viewed winning a wildcard is making the playoffs. I view it as making it to the league play in game.

That's exactly it and baseball figures it least other teams have a shot. I look at it cheapening the league.. I grew up on baseball where 2 teams played to get to the WS. Please go back to that..

I agree.

I like the play in game...it brings some extra excitement to a pretty boring game.

I am curious how many of you would feel differently if DET was the team, and not the Cubs that now got eliminated.

I hope Detroit wins that game or take the division during the season. Everyone knows the rules and no one seems to be complaining.

And one last point the game was played in Chicago, that was their advantage for their division success or H2H or what they use.
