Doug Fister to the DL

Fister's line tonight in Toledo: 4IP, 2H, 0R, 5K, 1BB, 68 pitches (44 for strikes). looks good to me, they must not have wanted him to stretch out too much. i really hope he feels good afterwards and we get him back next week.

As promised, Tigers Leyland here with McClendon, Rojas, Jones to see Fister pitch.

After going 3-0 on PawSox Anderson, Tigers Fister strikes him out swinging.

Of Fister's first 20 pitches, 13 were strikes. Normally he'd throw even more.

Fister with 37 pitches, 24 for strikes, through 2. Allowed 2 hits, no runs.

Strieby hits 4th HR on 0-1 count, giving his team 2-0 lead over PawSox. Can see why Hens lead IL in runs.
Fister now has 4 runs of support as MudHens lead 4-0 on Henry's 2-RBI single. He took 2nd on the throw.

Fister out for the 3rd. He starts inning with 37 pitches. At least he didn't pass out from getting 4-0 lead.

Fister with a 12-pitch, 1-2-3 third. He has thrown 49 pitches, 32 for strikes. And he has a 4-0 lead!

MudHens now have 5-0 lead in the 3rd, 2 out and Ciriaco up. Has Tigers Fister fainted yet.

Fister out to pitch 4th with 5-0 MudHens lead. He's got at least 26 pitches left.

Fister has 68 pitches, 44 for strikes through 4. Right on track for Monday in SEA as long as he feels good tomorrow.

Fister done after 68 pitches. Going to talk to him now.

Fister: I went out there and pitched how I normally would pitch. Just reacting to hitters and what's working for me tonight or not.

Fister: I feel good. I can't really ask for anything more right now. I let it fly tonight. We're still going to take it day by day.

Fister: It's been a while (pain). 2night went out there & pitched like I would normally p. Didn't really feel anything so it was good.

Fister: Being able to keep the ball down was the main key for me. Throwing the sinker and really the changeup.

Fister: Really trying to focus on throwing the cutter a little bit more. Being able to get back in the mental game of things, too.

Fister: I never question what my velocity is. We really don't keep track of that. For me, it's just kind of a mind game I don't play.

Fister: You never want to come out of a game but it's playing smart. There's no need to push it.

Fister: I can't wait. I'm eager to find out when we're going to get going & what we're going 2 do. It's just an exciting time 4 me.

Fister: That was the stomping grounds I had 4 a while & I had a great time there. It's something I treasure & never am going 2 let go.

Fister: We're trying to do the pre-hab stuff to make sure this doesn't happen again. Just trying to play things smart.

Fister: Tonight it was just a matter of coming in here, trying to do things as normal as possible and trying to not favor it at all.

Fister: At the beginning, I wasn't trying to go 110%, it was a matter of gradually progress, take it step by step. I felt good with it.

Fister: I pitched the same way I would pitch up there down here, made the same pitches, made the same locations.

Fister: I prepared the same way, I came to the ballpark the same time, all the same things I would do up there, I did down here.

Fister: It's always a question but it was good to get out and bounce off the mound a little bit & make a couple throws to 1st base.

with thanks to Detroit Fox's Dana Wakiji

I hope Fister makes a start.in Seattle so I can see him pitch!
